CLICKS - How Do You Go From Web Tumbleweeds To Web Traffic?

I'm sitting here, fingertips poised over the keyboard in a constant state of cat like readiness... but I can't help but feel like I'm on the verge of shouting into a void. Starting out in affiliate marketing felt like stepping onto a path paved with the promise of passive income, dreams of a side hustle that could flourish into something more. But let's be real, it's been more of a stumble than a stride.

I chose a niche that I know like the back of my hand. It's not just a hobby; it's been my life. I figured I could turn that passion into something profitable. But as days turn into nights and blog posts stack up with the tumbleweeds of zero web traffic, I'm left wondering: Can I do this?

I've been writing endlessly, throwing words out into internet with the speed of a thousand greyhounds. Wealthy Affiliate seemed like a lifeline, a community where success stories are as common as hashtags. But somehow, I can't seem to replicate that magic formula. I've seen the benchmarks of success, but they're elusive.

I've tackled the workload, churning out content and hoping to strike SEO gold, Jerry! Hey Google, gimme some clicks! I've chosen all the right Jaxxy keywords, but it's a bit like flirting with a wall. Every piece of advice says to keep at it, add more content, be patient—but let's be honest, patience has never been my strong suit.

I've set up camp on social media, yet my follower count is a big round zero. I've heard whispers of buying ads, but that feels like throwing good money after bad, especially when you're not sure if anyone's even out there.

So here I am, a little lost, a touch frustrated, and definitely questioning if I've got what it takes. I'm not looking for pity or a magic wand—just some real talk from those who've been in the trenches. Wealthy Affiliate members, if you're out there, how did you turn the first corner? How did you get that first trickle of traffic?

Any nuggets of wisdom, any tidbits of advice, or even just a "Hey, I've been there too" would mean the world right now. Because as much as I believe in this dream, I'm one step away from hanging up the boots.

Hi - I assume that your website is only a month old, and that is far too early to expect any traffic.

Google doesn't really trust brand new websites that are less than 3 months old, as the majority are abandoned by this stage.

It takes time to build up trust and authority with Google, this is a slow process.

Initially, Google needs to find each post and index them individually, adding them to its search engine.

Once indexed, Google tests the posts for several months, putting them up against competitors websites.

For the first 6 months or so, the posts will fluctuate in the rankings, maybe being on page 1 for a couple of days, and then dropping so low, nobody can find them.

All you can do, is continue to write well researched, unique content, mainly informational, not product based.

You need to show Google that you want to help people, not sell something to them.

And if you are using AI, don't publish it without adding your own human touch, your own voice, to emphasise your own experience.

Thanks so much Diane. I thought this much, but it’s nice to have this confirmed by someone. I’ll keep plugging away. I feel better having more of a clear goal ahead now.

If you’ve got a spare minute, I’d love you to have a quick look at my website and let me know how you think I’m going so far.

It takes time and persistence Michael. The only way to fail is to quit.
