When You Should Ask Viewer to Subscribe to Your YouTube Channel!
Asking people to subscribe to your YouTube channel is something I recommend you make sure to do in your video (I have a short video about why here).
But when should you ask viewers to subscribe to get the best results?
Most people ask at the start of the video, BUT that is actually a big mistake in my opinion.
In this short video, I will explain my opinion and approach to when you should ask people to subscribe.

Good morning Mikael,
Thank you for another great tip, Mikael, it's appreciated.
I must admit, I never particularly liked asking people to subscribe. When I had my off-line business, although I had five-star reviews on Google, I didn't particularly like asking people for reviews, partly because people are busy, etc. I don't like to force things on people, I know it's not quite like that, but it feels a bit like that.
However, I do try and remember to add a couple of animations to each video, as you also mentioned the same. It definitely makes a lot of sense about not asking people to subscribe immediately.
Have a fantastic day.
Roy
It is definitely a balance. It is good to ask but it should also be done in a non-annoying way:-)
As for asking for reviews, I completely agree. It is tricky. But asking can make a huge difference, but I have also often tried being asked where you almost feel obliged to give a review and that just gives a bad feeling. Think it is all about how it is done to both benefit you but also not bother and annoy others.
Yes, I hear you and that makes a lot of sense, Mikael!
Asking for reviews is definitely a funny thing! I remember working for an older, but highly intelligent man, I've actually worked for him several times. I asked him for a review and he said, "No, I'm not going to write a review about how good you are!" I actually laughed, as I found it quite funny and to a certain extent, very true! He was the good old school Englishman! Maybe that's what put me off asking for reviews.
It definitely makes a huge difference, Mikael, I have seen many people ask for reviews, almost forcefully, which I really don't like. The good thing is that all the reviews I had were five-star, so if someone rang up about a job, I could sometimes say, "You can check out my reviews to see who I am, etc", just to give the customer confidence. Like with many things, there is a right and a wrong way!
Have a great day.
Roy
Yes Mikael, I agree with your approach. It's very annoying when they ask before they've even started the video. If I really like a video, I'll pause before the end, and I'll click on their channel to see what else is available by them and I'll watch a couple of snippets from the titles that catch my attention. Then if those videos are just as good, I will subscribe.
Thanks for sharing how you do it Jarielyn. I think many people get annoyed when people ask at the start.
Hey Mikael, I fully agree. Nearer to the end of the video is best once you have already delivered great value to the viewer.

Totally agree, Mikael.
Before subscribing, I would like to see what the channel has to offer. If only one short or video resonates with me I would probably not subscribe.
Based on my experience, before someone subscribes to your channel, you have to deliver meaningful content for your audience, gain their trust, engage with them.
Best,
Maria
Thanks. And sorry for the very late reply. For some reason I overlooked your comment.
No worries, thanks :)
