Checking YouTube Copyright Issues Before Uploading
I have been asked if there is a way to check if there might be some copyright issues with your YouTube videos before you upload them.
The short answer is: Not always as it depends...
In this short video, I will explain what my experiences about this is and what I have also been told by official representatives from YouTube.
And I will share the best way I have found to test in a safe way.

IMPORTANT update:
I forgot to mention in the video that once you have tested on a test channel, make sure to delete the video from that channel before uploading it to your main channel. If not, you risk getting flagged for copying videos. (Thanks to Jay for asking that question n the comments below).

Good morning. I watched your -Wealthy Affiliate Review 2024- on YouTube, and there I saw 3 different membership options to choose from. A few days ago, I signed up for a free membership, and there is only an upgrade for -Premium Plus- membership. There is no possibility to upgrade for -Premium- membership. Can you please explain why there is no -Premium -option?
This has changed since I made the review. It was a 2024 review. I will soon make an updated 2025 review as well.
But the option you have now is still amazing value for your money, and especially if you go yearly you get it at a very low price.

Thank you for another very useful video, as this was a question that I actually asked you a few weeks ago, so I really appreciate your response.
I'm really surprised that YouTube doesn't have some sort of means of finding copyright issues. As you mentioned, and I see YouTube doing this when I'm uploading a video, it actually says, "checking for copyright issues" or something similar. That's a good idea of yours to set up a test account, Mikael. The last video I created that had a copyright strike a few months ago, the strike happened about 12 hours after the video went live, so potentially a test account would have quickly sorted the issue out.
I'm sorry that you have some of your content stolen, that's not clever and not right. I have only known this to happen once to me. I created a video of a piece of machinery that I owned, and the UK dealership/importer stole the video!!! I did report it to YouTube and it was quickly taken down.
How do you actually know that someone has stolen your content, Mikael? YouTube is a big place!

Inside the YouTube studio, there is a copyright tool where YT will let you know if their automatic tool detects anyone copying your content. It does not catch everything but it is very useful.
I think I will soon make a short video here where I show how it works.
