Hi Guys, I'm a eCommerce and Digital Marketer. I've worked on many sized projects, from small business to large multinationals. I'm looking at starting up my own thing

Hi Guys,

I have the following setup for my VPS running Wordpress and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on how to improve the security, with minimal cost?

You are hitting just the tip of the iceberg. The challenges will never stop. This may sound harsh but...

I don't want to spend my time tinkering with the technology, I've done that for most of my life, that's why I'm here. :)

My advice is to figure out how to get $400 and do the yearly plan. That way the headaches that you are encountering are @Kyle and @Carson's.

It's worth it, spend your time building your business, not playing with the tech.

thanks for the reply.

I have several questions though hosting through siterubix that I can't find answers to.

1. Can I use my own domains.
2. How much traffic can the sites handle.
3. What are the costs.
4. How many domains can I have.

I have several sites that I run for myself and manage for my family. so it's important to know the above.

1) yes, and it is recommended. The sitrubrix.com domain sites are typically just there for those that aren't...shall we say, fully invested.

2) I've neither seen the upper bound as of yet myself, nor have I heard about anyone else hitting it. It seems logical to assume that if your site ever hits that upper bound then you'll be able to reasonably afford hosting elsewhere. If you want real numbers I'd recommend reaching out to @Kyle or @Carson.

I use WP Super Cache to help reduce server load and speed load times, and it works very well to insure that WP is loading fast

Here's a resource with some more info: http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/

3) The costs are $395 a year if you pay annually.

Here's one resource: Here's a breakdown: http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/join/

4) The last link answers this question too.

Thanks for that.

Re: Point 3 - costs.

I'm already a WA premium member.

Does that mean the hosting is included in what I'm paying for already?

Also, am I able to run non-wordpress sites?
I have a CRM that I have as a subdirectory of my wordpress site. e.g. domain.com/crmdir

Hosting IS included in what you are already paying. :)

The system through WA is primarily WordPress oriented. By trying to do something non-WP oriented you are "going against the grain".

That said, it's all PHP based and we all have FTP access. This means that in theory most of the standard stuff should be available.

They have cUrl locked down (as should be the case) and likely they have other restrictions in place.

You could likely try it pretty easily AND you would gain knowledge to do all this and more if you go through the training.

Start at the "Get Started Here" green button, go through the lessons (there are five levels starting with Course 1) and they will take through how to access FTP.

If you do intend to do something that is non-WP related, I'd encourage you to run it by @Kyle or @Carson. Otherwise if you inadvertently violate the TOS you risk termination.
