What Are You Doing About This Amazon!? Warning it's a Rant!

Amazon warehouses in the US have had COVID-19 cases and haven't even bothered to share this with the employees. Workers only confirmed the rumor about the infection after confronting management or hearing news reports. This points to a lack of internal transparency. They are putting their employees at risk. These employees can then unknowingly pass this virus on.

I must say, I don't have all the details I'm reading this in the news as many others are (even the employees). But it pisses me off, and even more so since I live in a city, where an Amazon warehouse is located that I know, to have workers diagnosed with COVID-19.

Here locally, employees were notified that the warehouse will remain open. They will close if another worker is infected with the virus, at which point this will be considered an outbreak.

Okay, now in the news they have stated, there is a second case. Amazon has still not shut its doors. Other companies have closed when one case has been confirmed. How many cases are too many?

In all fairness, I'm sure they are not the only company.

It's a shame during this time that people who can't afford to go without a paycheck must decide between continuing to go to work in a crowded warehouse or for their health and the health of their spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, and grandparents to stay home without pay.

Are we doing enough?

Stay safe,

Mickey

Hey Mick...I live in Memphis but presently stuck here in Manila Philippines. I'm still very active with WA as a Premium member and plan to stay focused while on lock down.
I giving you a shout out and letting you know that Memphis just had a new Amazon Company to open just last year, You are right about what you said. They should really be ashamed of themselves..

Hi Calvin! Stay safe out there. Sad to know about this Amazon...👁‍🗨💨❄

Thanks, Calvin, I appreciate your comment. Please take care and stay safe.

Hey Mickey …I am extremely grateful and thankful to be a part of WA … Initially when I had received your email I immediately had to stop to gather my thoughts … How do we embrace the moments in our lives? … Our true happiness are within our inner world … Yes, external factors is happening … We must choose to place good thoughts in our minds regardless … We have the ability to Choose to let go of something we have no control of … This is a time to learn how to balance Creativity and Fear … Of course, allowing Creativity to be the dominate emotion … The Power source is within our own minds … We must be mindful on what we are putting into our minds moment to moment … There is a Ton of resources readily available to help us tap into this Power since the day we were born … " seek and you will find " …

Yesterday I was on a rant about this. Today I'm calming down and getting back to business. Not that I feel better about it, but there's nothing that I can do. Same as you, I'm extremely grateful to be a part of WA. Thanks, George, I appreciate your comment.

Hi Mickey. My son is a supervisor at a huge hardware warehouse in Central IL. When I talked to him, both he and his girlfriend were still working. He said that they are considered essential services. He said that everyone in the warehouse is working in gloves and masks. Didn't know about any people with positive test results, but people can have the virus, be contageous, and not know it. I'm praying for his safety.

Hi Carol, I will keep your son and girlfriend in my prayers. I pray they stay safe.

I'm glad to hear that they are working in gloves and masks. That does not appear to be the case with Amazon. I've read people are wearing bandanas, there are no masks.

Stay safe,
Mickey

Thanks, Mickey. Appreciate it. We don't go out without gloves and masks, but stay home unless we have to go out for necessities. Bought our gloves and masks when this was first announced, so we were lucky to be able to get them before the hoarders started snatching everything off the shelves!

Same here, we don't go out without our gloves and masks. I only go out if necessary. To be honest with you, it stresses me out to leave the house right now. I've got all the necessities I will need or will get by with.

Me, too. My dog had to have surgery on her foot on Wednesday, and my car wouldn't start following the surgery. Had to call Triple A and get a new battery. Was really uncomfortable because neither the AAA driver or the guys at Auto Zone were wearing gloves or a mask. They were all young, and I guess they haven't gotten the message that this virus is no respector of age!!

I can understand your feelings. Amazon behavior is selfish. Employees are forced by their financial problems. If one employee decides to leave, Amazon will get another one at the same rate or salary. Amazon or other companies in this situation can only behave well if there is a law enforcement.
We can talk about it, share it, and create awareness.
Thank you for doing your part.

Love,
Shahlla

I agree with you Shahlla. 👍👌🏆🥇🌟🏅

Welcome, my pleasure, my dear friend. 🥂💝🏅

You are exactly right! Thanks, Shahlla, I appreciate you commenting.

Stay safe,

We don't know what Bezo's is thinking, other than probably not wanting to get sick, like all of us. For that matter, he grew his company and has been creating jobs, in the field or online. So the opportunity for everyone is there to establish securities. I seriously doubt that he forgot where he started from. What would any one of us be doing in a position as such? Would we, you, us, be running down the street throwing millions of dollars around? Or keeping a "sane" humble hold of yourself, ourselves, in trying to make it through? Martyrism…..not to many people are down with that these day's, and somewhat so in the old world. Like if whomever were to say, " look at me, look what I'm doing, i'm such a humanitarian". People criticize the government and Trump, but don't take into consideration of what would they do if they were in their position. There are so many people and services are strapped. It's like the restaurant industry. You have a minimal staff serving any number of patrons that come in. And I can honestly say it's more overwhelming than one may think, if you've never worked in that field. I can honestly say this because I have many years in this industry, and it is DRAINING! We're all people. Isn't it ironically funny that a great percentage of problems are caused by "us"?

I do feel for those who have to work during these times, I'm truly blessed to be able to work from home. Thanks, Thomas, for your great comment.
