I am a voracious reader and seeker of information and knowledge. People and history fascinate me and I want to know more about them and why certain thing occurred. It came to me by knowing what folks are interested in or attracted to it can give any blogger a leg up on reaching their audience.

Personally, I have always been a firm believe in having a plan before I ever start writing. That is not to say I do not simply sit down from time to time and simply write from inspiration - I do. However, all of us must remember that we are writing to attract an audience and there are steps that you can take to ensure that audience is attracted to you blog.

Here are my suggestions:

  1. Chose The Appropriate Tone For your Blog - Who is primary audience and your secondary audience? What appeals to them, what are they searching for and most importantly, does what you have to say on the subject appeal to them? Then decide what tone would be most appropriate for your blog, and write in that tone and style consistently.
  2. Always Be Honest - Remember, you are trying to build an audience with your readers and you must ensure that you do not embellish or make statements that are not true. People will learn that you are not to be believed and you will lose all credibility with your audience.
  3. Links are Appealing But...... Anything worth doing is worth doing it right. Blogging is time consuming and if you simply use links in your blog your audience is going to view you blog has half-hearted and not something you have really worked at. Please do not get me wrong, hyperlinks have their place, but your audience always wants to see original content from you.
  4. Give Credit Where Credit is Due - If you use ideas from another blog own up to it and do not take credit for something that is not yours. I felt this was an important topic for all members of Wealthy Affiliate and when I started to research this subject, I came across a blog one the very subject by Susan Gunelius. You can learn more about Susan here - https://www.lifewire.com/susan-gunelius-3476104. In this blog I combined some of Susan's thought with my own but I have informed you the reader, exactly what I have done.
  5. Write in Short Paragraphs - Listen, everyone on the face of this planet is stressed for time. When you ramble on and on, with paragraph after paragraph, it is a turn-off and people move away from your site quickly. Just like a website, you have about 6 seconds to grab a readers attention and beyond that they are out of there. It is much more effective to write short paragraphs or to use bulleted list to keep a reader attention.

The next time you sit-down to write a blog try thinking about these steps as you write and see if you do not get a better response from your targeted audience. You want them to keep coming back, make it easier for them to do so.
