Tips For Working From Home - Part 1 of 3
Five Tips For Those Working from Home...............a wee bit long so I have divided into 3 parts.

Working from home is an increasingly popular option for workers worldwide. In fact, many consider this is such an important job perk, that it is worth discussing at interview or at job negotiation stage.
Then, if that option was to become a reality you would definitely want to succeed at your job and, to do that, you would need a “work from home” space that actually works for you.
Likewise, if you are running your own online business working from home, you should implement these tips to ensure your workplace setup is not hindering your progress and chances of success.
With that in mind, I have these tips for working from home that will help you set up a home office, will help you maintain or increase your productivity and avoid some of the common mistakes made by newcomers to the work from home scene.
#1 - Have a Dedicated Space
It’s not practical or realistic to think you can set up for work in a different spot each day, right!
Logging in from the bed, the sofa or the dining room table…….. sure, there is no reason why you can’t move around during your day, in fact that is one of the many advantages of working from home.
But you do need a dedicated place to keep your files, receipts, charging points and a monitor, as well as a quiet area to meet personal callers.
If you have a guest bedroom with space for a desk, that can be an ideal choice for a home office. Or, if you live in an apartment, you might consider installing a small office space in the living room by adding a good light, a desktop, a power extension and cord - all of which can be picked up quite cheaply locally or online.
Whatever space you choose, make it permanent and easy to access.
Constantly clearing a space and re-organising yourself, will just cause irritation and stress that will not help you.
Part 2 - with tips 2 & 3 will follow in next blog

Michael

My space is limited, so I use a shelf to file important documents and anything pertaining to my niche (books, magazines, etc). But I have my laptop in a rolling case along with pens, a notepad and my keyword notebook. So whether I decide to sit at the dining room table or the kitchen, Zi just wheel my stuff with me. If I know that I'll be working 2 or more days in a row, I just leave everything out. It's not ideal, but it's a system that works for me.
Great idea for Tip 1. With a dedicated space you can close the door and walk away. I found otherwise that when my laptop was on the table, it kept distracting me from other things I needed to do.
Sometimes I felt guilty for not spending more time working.
I am looking forward to the rest.

Good suggestions. We have to have the same discipline that we'd have in any job. Look forward to the other parts. Debbie
