The Power of Meditation - Does it really Work?

Some years ago I was handed a book on Dynamic meditation. Both the person who handed it to me, and the book itself, promised me that it would change my life.

And it did!

My Personal Experience

Mr. Silva, the author of the book, was very careful not to overstate the spiritual implications of meditation. And he was probably very wise to do so! At the time when I read the book I was 100% atheist. If I had found that it continuously made references God, an entity which I had absolutely no time for, or belief in, then I would very probably have tossed the book aside! Because I cannot not tolerate people forcing their religious beliefs on others!

As I was reading, I came across a chapter called, "Healing". This chapter was later subsequently removed. But not before reading the chapter, and putting it to the test!

After studying the chapter carefully, and having decided that I was ready to put it to the test, I decided to try healing of a child in hospital with Crohn's disease. And woe and behold, I indeed watched that child recover over a very short period of time and leave the hospital. A coincidence! Silva himself says that when you begin dynamically meditating for specific things to take place, they happen! And every time, it's coincidence. The more you meditate, the more coincidences take place. But when you stop meditating, then coincidences stop also.

But that coincidence (of the child being healed) was good enough for me to put a little faith in the power of meditation. And so I began a journey of meditating practically on a daily basis, and witnessing coincidence after coincidence taking place.

What's more, as Mr. Silva's had inferred, as time went by I discovered that I was becoming more receptive to my environment. And by this I mean I "inherited" a kind of sixth sense.

How did my life change?

At first it was little things such as:

  • I would pick up "messages" when someone was thinking about me.
  • I would pick up "messages" when someone was lying to me.
  • I would pick up a "vibe" if someone (posing as a friend) didn't like me.

But as time passed, and I became more in tune with my intuition, the "messages" got stronger, and more powerful. Following are some specific experiences where my intuition helped change my life or the lives of others.

It said:

  • Go visit him! (a total stranger)
  • You are here because you will know if [he] is going to live or die.
  • [He] is going to live.
  • If you go to such-an-such place right now, you will find such-and-such person.
  • [He] is lying to you!
  • [this person] is thinking about you and needs your help.
  • It's not working because [he] is negative. He is blocking you.
  • You are here (injured in hospital) for a reason. You are here because you need to be here for someone else.
  • This is your wife.
  • Don't lie to me! (ah! That was a biggy!)

So, What is Intuition?

When you meditate on a regular basis, you begin to "tune in" to your intuition. And it becomes a daily facet of your life; guiding you, advising you, or even warning you.

In my experience intuition just came as a thought. Yet, Subconsciously I always felt like it was much more than that; like it was a message. Nevertheless, it was always just a quiet little thought in the back of my mind, which I could choose to listen to or ignore.

I soon learned never to ignore it.

Personally, it is my belief that intuition is a direct communication line to The One; the Divine Intelligence; or, what some would call, "God". Please allow me to share my experience with you.

That last item in the list above - "Dont lie to me!" - was different from every other intuitive message I had ever received. Because, what I call "intuition", had previously always come in the form of my thought. Whatever the "message" I received, it was never a voice, or anything that felt external. It was simply a thought. Yes, I admit, it was usually an earth-shattering thought, but my thought nonetheless. This time, however, my thought said, "Dont lie to me!"

I had just sat down to ask a Christian church leader to speak to his congregation to pray for the life of a dying child. Why would an atheist do such a thing, you might ask! Simple! I knew that "If you believe, you will achieve!" And so, because this child needed as much help as he could get, I decided to use "these Christians' " belief system for my own benefit. If a hundred people believed, their power of belief would achieve!

Please allow me to clarify that my intuition had already told me that this boy was going to die. So it was indeed desperation that made me resort to using "those Christians" to achieve my goal.

As I opened my mouth to put my plan into action, my next thought was, "Don't lie to me!"

With this boy's life now hanging in the balance, I froze in fear. And then I burst into tears.

My "plan" had fallen to pieces. I asked the man for his help, sincerely, and sincerely confessed that I had never turned to God before, so I wouldn't be a hypocrite and start now!

I'm hoping that some of you may have noticed an inconsistency here. I mean, this blog is all about me telling you how great and powerful meditation is, right? And how it can lead to the creation of miracles in your life ; even the miracle of healing, right? So then why wasn't I healing this boy myself? haven't I already stated that it was the healing of a child that had kept me on the road of meditation?

Thank you for the observation.

Mr. Silva also made it very clear in his book that you must always remain humble. You cannot go around saying I did this, and I did that! Well, I did not heed that advice. I became so powerful at one point, or so I thought, that I was going around saying, "There is no such thing as God! It's all in the mind! We all have the power to create miracles!"

And so, when my intuition told me that this boy was going to die, I soon after also discovered that my well-practiced art of meditating and healing had been somehow...removed. I could not "go to level." I was "locked out." And that is why I was desperate.

Following that event, two things happened - I found God (or to be precise God came and showed himself/herself/itself to me), and, more importantly, the boy recovered.

Back to the subject of intuition. It had never actually intervened in my life. It had always been just a thought, (and often an unlikely or undesirable thought) which albeit always appeared to show me the right path in each situation.

What follows is an account of when my intuition did indeed intervene in my life, and by doing so saved the life of a child, and my own.

I was a driver and a courier. On this particular day I was being sent to visit 3 different banks, during rush-hour, around 40 minutes before the banks were closing for the day. An impossible task!

I was angry and stressed as I zoomed down the side of the building to exit the parking lot. As the car's engine began to roar, I visualized myself going right to the edge of the curb, and stopping abruptly. I imagined an oncoming car swerving, breaking, and beeping its horn at me. And me making a ridiculous hand gesture, as if to say, "what's your problem? I stopped didn't I?!"

I depressed the clutch and started shifting into second 2nd gear...

I would like to point out here that to reach the curb, from the parking lot, you would have to cover roughly 3 metres of pavement - the pedestrian sidewalk.

Suddenly, at about 2 metres from the edge of the building (and the beginning of the sidewalk), I received a flash image in my mind. It was the image of a little girl running in front of my car.

I didn't think twice. I shifted back into 1st and released the clutch. The car knelt at the negative force. As I moved my foot over to the break pedal, a little girl, about 4 years, old ran in front of my car.

I pressed the break pedal with controlled pressure, and brought the car to an immediate halt. The girl's mother ran to retrieve her, and looked up at me, shrugging apologetically.

I sat there in a daze, realizing what had just happened. I uttered the words, "Thank you", to whatever force it was, that had just saved 2 lives.

Without that intervention, that little girl would now surely be dead. And I would still be in prison for many more years to come. But no, that's not entirely true, because if I had hit that child it would have destroyed me also. I would not have been able to live with myself. I need not elaborate on that.

Conclusion

I read a book on dynamic meditation, I studied it, and I put my newfound knowledge to work. It did indeed change my life, and the life of others; always in a good way.

Oh! Wait! I have a confession. In brief, it was clearly stated that one cannot use meditation for something negative. In fact it was specified that any negative "programming" would back-fire. Well, I decided one day that perhaps that "warning" was just to deter us from doing anything bad with meditation...

Cutting a long story short, I meditated and visualized, for a specific person whom I detested, to get hit by a car, and for him to break his leg. The next day, I pulled a wooden pallet down from the stack, just like I had been doing 20 times a day for the previous 2 months. The pallet landed on my foot, and broke 2 of my toes!

But yes, with dynamic meditation you can:

  • make any positive changes in your life, or the life of others
  • improve your health, or the health of others
  • achieve any desire or ambition, even if it would have to be labelled "a miracle"
  • improve your memory
  • establish (or improve) your connection to an intelligence, that will ultimately bring about a peace and harmony in your life

...and much more!

I very much look forward to your feedback. Should I come back with a short training module on how to meditate, to reach your 1st level meditative state?
