My Facebook page growth — slow, steady, and strategic.
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd share my experience with you about growing my Facebook page - what has worked for me so far, and what hasn't.
I’ve been running my business page for around 3 months now. I post 2-3 times a week, and the content is intentionally niche: workplace satire, bold language, and humour that definitely isn’t for everyone :).
In the last couple of weeks, I've been starting to see a bit of momentum. The analytics below are from this last week.

Here’s what’s worked — and what took time:
- I joined a range of Facebook groups that looked like they might align with the tone of my content. Some did. Many didn’t.
- Rather than adjust the content to suit the group, I simply left the ones where it didn’t land. No hard feelings — just refining where I spend time.
- I’m still doing this. It’s ongoing. But over time, I’ve found a few key groups where the content resonates and generates real engagement.
- When people like those posts within the groups, I invite them to follow my page (screenshot below on how to do this — super useful).
- That’s been the main strategy: no paid ads, no big network push, and I haven’t even shared the page with friends or family (only a couple of friends who I know would appreciate the humour). It’s grown quietly and intentionally.
This image shows a post in a group. It has received a number of reactions. When you click on them, you can see that you are able to invite those people to follow your page:

I’m currently sitting at just over 700 followers. Not huge — but every one of those has come through genuine interest, not through people I know, nor ad spend. There is still a way to go of course!
If you’re building something a bit different, and starting from zero — this approach might work for you too. It takes time, testing, and a bit of resilience, but it does build.
I've been gradually learning what works and what doesn't work. There is excellent training here at WA about growing you Facebook page. Vitaliy has done some excellent training on this.
What are some Facebook strategies that have worked for you?
Have a fabulous weekend, everyone.
Cheers,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for this blog post, very informative.
I've been meaning to give some attention to FB, and this has prompted me to do so.
Your stats for only 3 months' effort are very promising, and I hope you continue to see rapid growth.
May I add, I've just seen your 'workplace' website. I applaud you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm still wiping the tears from my eyes (tears of laughter). It's absolutely brilliant, genius, and sadly, so correct. To have taken such an approach to highlight real-life experiences - it's so clever!
I have been self-employed for over 20 years now, having worked in many toxic work environments, and back then, I thought, nope, I don't want this - where the focus was more on the office politics rather than actual work. I am glad of the choices I made - two decades ago, and I dread to think what the workplace environment would look like today.
I may likely spend many hours on your website, giggling, nodding, probably dropping in a few 'mmm-hmmm's, and crying with laughter a whole lot more.
Good on you! And here's to your huge success!
All the best
Cherie
Thanks so much for your feedback Cherie! The idea for the site was a joke but I thought why not 🤷♀️😂. It’s been a lot of fun to build.
❤️
You've made a very valid point in your about me page. Beyond the 'fun', there's a real underlying truth that we can all relate to on so many levels and addressing it in such a humorous manner is brilliant! Bravo 👏🏽
This is inspiring, great job. Just a quick question - you mentioned inviting people to share your page when they like a post. You mentioned a screenshot...did you post it? Sorry if I'm missing it, I'm just curious to see how you go about this :) You are definitely doing something right :)
My website has really jumped up how many views its gotten this past year, I think putting my face out there and posting videos (vlogs) is really helping. My FB and Instagram pages though are staying at very low numbers. i am learning to be more soul lead and show all my quirkiness and not worry so much about trying to make the perfect video ... that tends to feel good and be most natural.
Great work and thank you for sharing!
It simply shows that when you click on the reactions you have the ability to invite those people. There’s nothing more to it 😊
Hi Mia. Great work here and thanks for all the tips. I've just really been posting content but I'm going to try your strategy too. Can I just clarify what you do:
1. You join a like-minded FB group
2. You post something on that group that is akin to your own FB page
3. When people engage with that post in the said group, you invite them to follow your own page.
Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb, but just wanted to know that I understood you.
Your results are great by the way. Far more views and reach than I'm currently getting and I'm posting 2 things per day!
Thanks for your insights and have a great day.
Gail
Hi Gail,
Yes your FB page joins groups aligned with your content. Your page posts content in the groups. For me, it is images and quotes that I also post on my page. When people within groups react to your content, you invite them to follow your page.
Let me know how you go.
Cheers,
Melissa
Love this strategy because you invite just those who have shown some kind of interest about the content! I will try it as well, thank you!
Can u send me a friends request. To join your Facebook page.im really interested.
This is my Facebook account name
DAVE GREATNESS.

First of all, a lot of congratulations for celebrating your success so far with us and wish you a lot more in the future.
It's a good example of what you've learned here on WA and then applied successfully.
I'll be very thankful if you share exactly which video class about facebook strategy you watched please here on WA?

Melissa, this post is a masterclass in intentional growth. Your commitment to staying true to your voice while building a community organically is both refreshing and inspiring. The way you’ve navigated group dynamics—choosing resonance over reach—is a reminder that slow and steady isn’t just strategic, it’s sustainable.
Your tip about inviting group post reactors is brilliant and so easy to overlook. Thanks for sharing your journey with such clarity and generosity. Looking forward to seeing how your page evolves—bold humor and all! 💥 Keep going, you’re building something real.
Leo
Thanks for your kind words, Leo. Hope it's all going well for you here.
