How to climb cliffs

Hey everyone,

I decided that I would actually write today about something that I actually know a great deal about. The subject is dealing with climbing cliffs, or mountains, the concepts are very similar.

The basic rule of thumb is three points of contact at all times, I am primarily focused on free climbing, i.e scaling the cliff with no ropes (not recommended), this is an individual task, no support whatsoever. In this scenario, you are taking on the mountain on your own. If you slip and fall, you die. It is really that simple. While you are attempting this feat, your auto response is to do everything it can to stop you from climbing. Your heart rate goes up, your breath gets shorter, you begin to sweat. Failure in this situation means death. You focus on what you know. Three points of contact, one move at a time, this is not a race, make sure you have contact with the face before you move another limb. Slowly but surely, you move up the cliff. It is long, it is arduous, it is exhausting. You finally reach the top, you lie on your back, you sigh a sigh of relief, your heart relaxes, you thank God that you made it, you never forget your journey. However, you are not done yet. You must anchor the rope to the top of the cliff, feed it down to those who wish to climb the same cliff, you must now work as balay, (however it's spelled), and one by one, the other people arrive safely and with your rope, they did not fret, if they fell, you held them with your rope. They did not fear death. This is the recommended way of climbing, with a rope and someone there to catch you if you fall. Sure, you may slip down a ways, you may even scrape yourself a little, but you are able to regain stability on the cliff face.

This is an analogy, it shows the need for teamwork. There are no such thing as self made millionaires. Everybody has had help along the way in one way or another. That is what Wealthy Affiliate is all about, we are here to help our fellow "cliff climbers". We ensure that if someone needs help up the face of the cliff, we feed them the rope that they need. Thanks to the founders of WA, Kyle and Carson, sitting on the top of this cliff, helping us up every step of the way. If you haven't joined WA, I highly recommend that you do, if you are considering upgrading to premium, I highly recommend that you do. You see, many of us have tried and failed many times over. What we don't realize is that we are essentially climbing a cliff, we try to climb too fast often and end up losing ground, some of us try it on our own and end up stopping before we get started, (because we fear what we perceive as death), I am no different. I just focus on my fundamentals, (what I have been taught), always have three points of contact, climb one limb at a time, secure a good hold, move again. WA is our rope, we have help here, just follow our instructions and we will reach the top, but always remember, once we reach our goals, our work is not done, we have brothers and sisters who want the same things out of life. No matter what our particular niche is, the fundamentals are all the same. Kyle and Carson has laid those out for us, it is up to us to follow those fundamentals. The ball is in your court, the decision is yours to make, are you willing to work for your dreams? I am, and I decided that WA is the rope that I needed to help me up this cliff. I am so glad that I chose to join WA, I would still be lost if I hadn't.

Excellent post! Thanks for sharing!

I am considering adding this to my site, I haven't yet, I thought that I would see how well it goes over here.
