Another Success Story Thanks To Wealthy Affiliate
I had intended to update progress – or lack of it, at exactly the three month mark but seem to have overrun a bit, but better late than never I hope.
Back in May I finally decided to quit putting all my efforts into a site which, when I checked the keywords (and did the job properly as WA teach you to…) was never going to earn the accolade ‘likely to succeed’. So with a lot of misgivings about starting projects and not finishing them, I did just that and started again.
Even as I wrote and uploaded the content the doubts about my wisdom of a clean slate, fresh start, new site, kept on prodding at me, but I followed the personal rule of being a stubborn sod and worked on. I hope the details of what I did and the encouraging stats below will boost all of you who feel this is a struggle without reward, if you take action you will see success.
The Detail
This site is in a competitive niche but has plenty of lower search volume keywords with low competition, all still up for grabs. It went live on 12th May with six or eight posts at the launch point with another 22 being added since. I’ve written and posted about 15 articles mainly pointing at the root domain, half to Street Article, half to Ezine Articles.
The first ‘guru secret’ I finally understood was keywords and how to find the low hanging fruit. Thank you so much Kyle, the discussion on Mastering The Keyword Research Process has been pivotal - folks, if you haven't read it, you really should.
The second ‘secret’ is content, none of the posts is less than 800 words and I’ve taken time to research and write as well as I can, a lot is from personal experience – write about what you know is excellent advice.
The final ‘secret’ is consistent work, writing quality content and doing so regularly. On the site I’m currently chasing one keyword per post, yet am now ranking for 227 keywords as of today – many of them on page 3 to 7 or 8, but they still get clicked and are all climbing up, kicking penguin’s and stomping on panda’s as they go.
Actually, maybe the final final ‘secret’ came from one of Jay’s brilliant Wabinars. No affiliate links until the page is where you want it in Google, then add one or maybe two, tops.
As you can see, there are no 'secrets' to Internet marketing, just the solid skills and techniques you can learn here at WA, if you want to.
My final pearl of wisdom! I now track everything I do on a spreadsheet. Every article written and the anchor text used, every rss directory the feed has gone to is logged, each product on the site has its own worksheet with other associated keywords recorded and any supporting articles are cross referenced – I know, but it has helped!
One big problem I had was losing track of article titles, anchor text, what article had gone where and which was pointing to what – tracking has really helped me stay focused and on task.
So here they are, the stats and a screen grab from my Amazon account – oh yes, didn’t I mention it? I’ve started making money too.
All I've done is follow the training, plus write a lot of content.
I do not believe this success would have been possible without the WA community and of course, Kyle and Carson. I may not post much, but I read a lot and take action. And that is the whole secret of IM, join WA, follow the tutorials - and take action on what you learn. Go on, get writing!

Hi Meggy, new here, just joined a few minutes ago. I really appreciated your details, of what, and how you have "made" your success. It is a real encouragement to someone like me that has no idea what I'm even doing here LOL. All I knew was that I needed a job that I could work from home, and here I am :) Thanks again for taking the time to share with us.

Meggy, WOO HOO for you!!! I'm impressed and very happy for you! I'm very new to WA and not even sure how I stumbled across your post but I'm happy I did! Thank you so much for taking your time to share your positive news with us. It does a lot to inspire us IM wanna bee's. :)
How cool it that, that you, in just 4 short months managed all of this in spite of a less than "likely to succeed" keyword!
A toast to your continued success! :-)
Hey Kate, thank you - I must correct something though - I stopped working on a 'no hope' site and started again - different niche, new domain name etc. It is not a good idea to give up on things, but after a year (bad keyword choice) I was getting nowhere fast and either gave up on that site or gave up period - I'm so glad I'm stubborn!
Great to have you at WA - it is the best place to be if you want to learn this business with no 'tricks' or dodgy practices. My best advice, work your way through slowly, and don't miss out on Jay's Wabinars, awesome passing on of knowledge. if I can help, just sing out.
Hi Meggy, Thank you for setting me straight. :) I blew right past the "minor detail" that you quit your efforts with a previous site! In any event, you did great! Thanks for the tip re: Jays Wabinars.
Stubbornness… it's a good thing! ;-))
I just came across this WA Site and Hoping this is for real. The 30 years in the field I worked in WAS PURE HELL. I lost my job 5 years ago. At which point I was devastated- DEBT $$$$$ Now I realize it was a Blessing- Thank GOD. But now I am worried how I will survive without going back into the field I worked in and HATED DEEPLY for 30 years. Basically I am saying "I WONT" !!! I PRAY THIS IS REAL. So I can stay home and take care of my 87 year old Mother.
It is as real as you want to make it. People can make honest money on the internet. Like they say you need to do the work. Go through the lessons one at a time. bite your nails go back over the lesson if need be. Even delete your web page and start over if that is what it takes. They will show you how to build your page how to choose a niche to become an affiliate by choosing an item to sell. Pick something you really would like to do. If you like to golf then you already know a lot.If you like vintage cars then you can build on that also by finding affiliates to promote their restoration business and so on. Then you write articles and build from there. It will take many cups of coffee or tea or milk in some cases. If you want it you can do it. Give your mom a hug.

Your method is totally cool. Most of the big book Authors keep such notes. For characters and plots and such. They have to in order to keep the story lines clean and correct. No one can remember that amount of information forever unless you have a photogenic memory. Good for you to take that extra step to keep your business on track and clean crisp and clear. bless be
