:-) Some of you know that I created my blog's Youtube Channel yesterday (see "My First Youtube Channel Was Born Today!" (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/megawealthy9/blog/my-first-y... ).

*

Well, I also shot my first video!

I knew what I wanted to talk about. I found a place to attach my phone somewhere on my terrace/balcony so my husband would not have to be my cameraman. I got an acceptable angle and an acceptable view (I was definitely not going for perfection! ;-) I believe perfection sometimes kills good intentions.). I made sure my pyjamas top was looking okay. Hahaha!! I love the idea of recording a video in my PJs! Authentic is my middle name! ;-) And I started!

It went very well BUT at some point, I lost the image and there was a message on the screen. But as I was in the middle of my story, and I wasn't sure what this meant, I just kept going. See, my goal was ONE take and NO editing!! Hahaha!! I just like simple, authentic stuff! ;-)

At the end of my recording, I went to press the stop button and saw that the video recording had already stopped. OUCH!

*

The question was then:

How much of the about 5-7 minutes I think I spoke was actually recorded? I looked... 2m20!!! Aaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! ;-)

So my husband helped me check why that was... and we found out that it was a MEMORY problem... I had been keeping too much old photos and videos on my phone! There was not enough space for my new stuff!!

Very symbolic since I have been doing a lot of work on myself, about clearing past memories and blocks to heal/clear my camera-shyness and move forward on my journey!! Super symbolic indeed!

*

So here is my first lesson learned from this

Before you start making a video for your Youtube Channel, make sure you have enough memory space on the device you are using! :-)

I guess I can still keep this 2m20 video, shoot the rest and then edit the whole thing together. But I would really prefer to do a one-take video with no editing... so I think I am going to try again from scratch once I have cleared my phone. :-)

And this time, I am also going to make sure there is no rubber band forgotten on the terrace table! Second lesson learned... :-)

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Nathalie

Oh dear 😕

Hahaha! Yeah! 😕

Thanks a lot for sharing!

My pleasure, Bob! :-)

Nathalie

Great job, Nathalie.

I too have been working with video, it gets easier the more you record. And you'll see how you'll find solutions for everything.

I also wanted to record things in one-shot, but quickly gave up on that one. Haha.

Keep on challenging yourself!

Thanks a lot, Fran! :-) I saw you already subscribed to my channel! Thank you so much for that too!

What do you use to edit your videos?

Nathalie

Of course I did, Nathalie. I'm a fan, remember?

I purchased a software called Filmora9. I chose to do that because it was a one time payment instead of a subscription and it's very noob friendly. I knew nothing about video editing.

Yes, you are my #1 fan in Spain, Fran! :-)

Thanks a lot for this info about Filmora9. :-)

Nathalie

Congrats Nathalie

If you use your cellphone to shoot videos, you may want to also look at the settings, since often the camera will revert back to the main screen.

I also use my Samsung cellphone to live stream our Sunday mass using Zoom and I have to constantly adjust the zoom otherwise it will go back to the main screen.

I believe that the iPhone allows one to adjust the settings not to do that when the camera is on.

You may also want to consider investing in an adjustable tripod which I do use in church during Sunday mass.

If you consider using even the most basic version of Zoom, not only you can live stream, store the videos to the cloud but also make it easier to also upload them to YouTube.

If you intend to create a series of videos, you may want to use the premium version of Zoom for more cloud space and larger number of videos.

Just a few suggestions.

Blessings!

Excellent suggestions!! Thank you so much for all this, Gabriel! :-)

I can't believe you just posted this. I too did my very first video yesterday and had the exact same problem..

I never ceased to be amazed by all the little things we learn as we take this journey.

Paul

Oh wow!! What a timing! Hahaha! I wonder what you are doing today...

Nathalie

Oh you know... shooting the odd video or two.. hahaha

Hahaha! I was wondering if we were doing the same thing today again. ;-)

Confucius said—well, way too much, but that's hardly the point 😉— "the longest journey starts with but a single step".

Well done and congratulations on commencing your journey to video making expertise. 👍

"To our success" - huzzah!

Regards,

Tayo

Thanks a lot, Tayo! :-)

That's very kind and supportive of you!

Regards,

Nathalie

Great post! I have videos, but I just never gotten around to uploading them. I've got to work on that!

Thank you, Cornelius! :-)

Yes! Absolutely! Uploading the videos is the next step! You can start with one. :-)

Nathalie

Thanks!

I think what's really stopping me is worrying about whether someone will "steal" my content, and whether or not I should watermark the videos, which would require a logo, and even then, the copyright for my niche is a little crazy... I might just be overthinking things...

Thanks for the follow-up!

I understand, Cornelius. I'm sure you have very good reasons to think about all this. It sounds like a tough decision that only you can make. And I'm sure you will make the right decision.

Nathalie

Well done - you have made that giant step forward we often dread to take! Hudson

Thank you very much, Philip!! :-)

Nathalie

Wow! you made your first step on making a video!
I also took videos of me talking like crazy-- but couldn't
upload it--
camera & youtube scares me! lol

Keep us updated, Nathalie!

I totally understand, Mina! :-) I used to be like that too... I am planning to write a WA training related to mindset and how to heal/clear camera-shyness... :-) Stay tuned.

Nathalie

Well done getting into videos and a great lesson as well
Thanks for sharing and I hope you publish many more awesome videos and attract people to WA
Go well Nathalie
Vicki
