How is WA like Building a Quilt?
First Let me say I love the feel of extremely good fabric, I am a quilter by tradition , My great grandmother, grandmother and myself are quilters, and I can say for sure that building a web site is like building a quilt one piece at a time.
Let me explain: A quilt is a set of fabric squares, more simply a set of nine small squares , that build into a larger square and then into yet a larger square, which goes next to yet another square, hence over time a blanket. Quilting is the sewing of the three layers of fabric ( top, middle and back) together,to become a blanket. Oh and to tell the truth you have to take apart the seams a few time to keep them straight. Every connor should be straight and clean. So in others words it is a labor of love for each blanket, and can take up to 5 years to complete. At least for me You see I create each blanket by Hand no machine is used, cutting, piecing, and sewing are all done by hand, hence 5 years in the making.
So you can see where i am going with this, it takes time to
1: learn something new
2: it takes time to piece all the information together
3 it take a lot of patients to complete the task
I have been learning to build a websites for the last year, and I have only been with WA for not more than 6 weeks ,and WA has gotten me to the point of confidence to where I have gotten the website, and and now I am blogging, and learning to turn make a profit.
So if you take each Lesson and turn it into a quilt block then as each block is finished you will start to build a website and business. Patients and not giving up are the true keys to success. When I was first learning to quilt, I was very frustrated with how many times I had to undo a block to fix my lines, and I did that a lot, straight lines are key to what makes a good quilt, and this has taught me to be more patient, and be more understanding when I have to undo something here at WA to correct my mistakes. Mistakes take us to where we learn how to fix, if we don't learn how to fix we can never make a perfect blanket or web site.
One block at a time ,One step at a time ,and you will have a perfect web site in the end.

Thank you so much, I needed to hear that today! Sometimes when things don't happen we start to question whether or not we are on the right path.
Great idea, making an analogy between quilting and WA. I like the block part.I have a lot of blocks but I think the're starting to come together............Marty
Oh, wow, that's downright inspirational. I also like how you draw the similarities between two things that seem so diametrically opposed- a modern, techie thing like a website and a more traditional, tangible quilt. The common elements are patience, determination and a love of what you're doing. This is fabulous!
