Daddy Daycare

Recently I have been spending more time with my sons and our relationship has evolved in unexpected ways. Previously, I was always "Daddy" but never the 'go to' parent unless it was for the purpose of "fixing it". My role was more of a fix it dad than the dad that was there for hugs and snuggles etc. That was always the role deferred to mom.

As it turns out, all I needed to do was be around for more hours in the day besides dinner during the week and the weekends. Apparently, it doesn't take much for your kids to totally bond with you when you are around more. My children are very young and they are growing up very quickly at this time. It is easy to miss milestones just by going to work everyday. They also do not connect with you on the same level as they do with the caregiver parent because your presence is just limited. These few weeks of being around more has made me realize how much I have been missing all these years.

For the parents that live in different homes from their children, it is truly a disadvantage to you and your kids because you must miss out on so much. Of course, everyone adjusts to their circumstances and in some cases it is for the best, but after receiving agamagas from my baby boy; I know I wouldn't want it any other way.

Parents, cherish your kids while you can. They grow up so fast. It is easy to miss the firsts by trying to do the basic providing for your family. Connect with them as often as you can, make every moment count because they'd be teenagers before you know it and they won't want to spend time with you anymore.

How intrigued by reading this post. I am a single parent and raised four of my own without a father being present. Being a single parent is a courageous role.

But, it works best when there is two in the picture..

Great job!
Best to your growing success!

Yes it takes courage to do it alone. I do not believe that anyone's goal is to be a single parent, but sometimes it is inevitable and in the best interest of those involved.
Thank you for the comment.
Best wishes.

You are welcome!
