My Future as a Writer

I have been doing a lot of writing and a lot of soul searching in the past few weeks. A couple of things have brought this up for me, not the least of which is my WA family. Unfortunately for my sites, my writing has not really been focused on them.

When I started at WA, I chose my niche from my passion. I did a lot of writing about it, but found that it was not really a money maker. So I started a second site that was another passion that I thought would be more of a money maker. I was wrong. I kept writing and writing on both of those until I became frustrated with the system (meaning my own system). I took some time off.

But I kept writing. I wrote a book. I published it on Amazon. No one bought it unless I offered it for free. No one reviewed it. But does that matter? No. Because I had achieved one of my life goals - to write a book. But it did open a couple of doors for me. It opened me up to writing in a longer format. It caused me to talk to people about what I had done and how I was feeling about it. And one of these conversations led me to a couple of things.

  1. I started a new site and pretty much have abandoned the other two. Any writing I have done on them in 2016 has been only half-hearted effort. My new site is my true calling. I have been writing and people - not just my friends and family are finding it.
  2. I wrote a second book. The second book is not just a stream of conscious bit of nonsense from my head, but an organized and thoughtful progression of information. And it coincides with my new niche.
  3. I published my second book on Amazon and in the 7 days it has been available, 5 people have purchased it and I have 2 5-star reviews from people who don't know me!

So now, I have to determine my future at WA and the future of my sites. One of my thoughts was to leave WA and abandon my websites to concentrate solely on writing books. But then it was pointed out to me that as an author, I need a website to promote myself as an author, to gather a following, to vet ideas. And so here is my list of decisions:

  1. I will continue writing books for sale on Amazon and maybe other outlets in the future.
  2. I will keep my website fibrodiary.com as it fits the them of my life and I will be able to use it to promote my writing and gather followers and email lists.
  3. I will let my other sites go and not renew their domains.
  4. I will stay with WA for the continued training and friendship and hosting.

This is my future. After a year at WA, I have found my wings in a completely different direction that I thought I was going to fly. It has been an interesting year for me, personally and professionally. At then end of my first year, I have to say that I have come out a better person for having been a part of this community. I have found my voice!

Congrats, that's awesome. Could you give us a link to your books?

I think your experience makes a good point about WA. For many of us, the training helps us to be better at affiliate marketing but sometimes that training can teach us entirely different things - and that's okay too.

I'm not sure links work here. But http://amzn.to/1ZyFLqq is it. I will edit if it doesn't work.

And thank you - yes, learning something entirely different is okay. I am a better person coming out this side!

The link works fine, thanks.

Congrats on the five star reviews - well done :)

Thanks so much! I can't believe it at all!
