Its all to hard

To those who are thinking of quitting or its all to hard...a little perspective perhaps

I don't know your background but i will share a little of mine.
I am an Electrician by trade not the only job i have had in life but its where i started out after finishing school, mainly because my parents always said its good idea to have a trade behind you because its always something to fall back on.. that being said,Think about this.An apprenticeship last for 4 years in Australia,That's working at least a 40 hr week 48 weeks a year and 6 weeks of college every year of those 4 years, starting out on minimum wage. Then to become a contractor i had to work for someone else for another year and do further training and courses before i could officially and legally work for myself as an Electrical Contractor.Even after all that it still didn't mean or guarantee i was going to make a million dollars, the phones would be running hot with people chasing my services,or even a living for that matter, i could either work for someone else if i was lucky enough to find a job or start my own business which if you have ever tried to do is far from a simple task and statistics show 80% fail within 5 years.

What I didn't expect for a second or kid myself was that after a month or so of starting my apprenticeship or reading one chapter in a book was that i would know it all,I did not expect my books to be filled up with work for the next 6-12 months To have people lining up because they had heard i was the best,to choose or use my business over the many other electricians available and qualified.I didn't think all i had to do was throw a screwdriver and a pair of pliers in a work van with a sticker on the side and suddenly i would have people flocking to me.I didn't expect to be an overnight success or the biggest contractor in the country or even my town for that matter,I didn't think my phone would be running hot and i would be spending hours reading emails from people pleading to see me and use my business.

Do you get my drift..

Being here at Wealthy Affiliate is a privilege in some ways. I don't have to drive all over the countryside, crawl through ceilings in the middle of summer, climb power poles or spend six weeks a year sitting in a classroom -,All my training is in one place, pretty easy to follow don't need text books or solve any great mathematical equations. I am surrounded by positive, inspiring, knowledgeable people who care and want to help. The day i put my screwdriver down and stop doing electrical work is the day i stopped earning money here at Wealthy Affiliate if i lay down a strong foundation i can potentially continue to earn money even when i am asleep or out enjoying quality time with my kids and for years to come. Here at Wealthy Affiliate i don't have to worry about touching the wrong wire and electrocuting myself,Here i can sit back look at my work and if its not working properly i can go back make some changes and maybe increase the flow. Here at Wealthy Affiliate i don't have to worry about expensive advertising, public and liability insurance, running cost for vehicles, registration or carrying thousands of dollars worth of stock around in a van or wiring up houses for builders and hoping they pay me,chasing up monies owed and spending countless hours preparing quotes and other business related paperwork. If i have a question or dont fully understand something Here i can ask a question and people are only to willing to help.

I think the money you pay for the privilege of being here is a small price to pay for the benefits one receives.Part of the problem with today,'s society i believe is that for some of the people in it it has become to much of - i must have now or yesterday type of mentality.

If you think you can start ANY business, put in a couple of weeks work then sit back and expect the rewards to come flooding in and then seriously wonder and question why its not happening then....What can i say.

All the best,Matt.

All Youbhave to dois touch the live wires of energized content Mathew!

Excellent story, Matthew. I think it puts WA in perspective for many of us.

Thanks Glen,appreciate the feedback.

There is no such thing as a quick get rich scheme or we would all be there!

Exactly right Carol,We would indeed.

Too true, it doe not just apply to sparkies (electricians), a lot of tradies here in OZ have the exact same issues (I guess with the exception of touching wrong wires!)

Certainly, there is a rather large number of people who have that "with five minutes of work and I will be a millionaire" mentality and sadly it is becoming a bit of an epidemic.

I am sure this same problem exists in many other countries across the world!

All too true Steve it relates to every business and all regardless of their chosen field or profession. Thanks for sharing.
All the best,Matt.

Hi, a super true life story in accepting life's challenges. Irv.

Thanks Irv i hope we can all relate in some way,
All the best

You are so correct. I think the internet has given us all a sense of urgency and we expect instant results. So many people lose out because they give up too soon! This IS a business and needs to be worked with thoroughness and dedication.
Thank you for a great post!

I agree with you Althea,It is a business and you cant expect overnight success. Thanks for sharing i appreciate your comments.
Have an awesome week!

Hey great article i agree with your thinking! I know for myself sometimes the must have now is born out of urgency of getting out of the current circumstance too - so that we focus on result and not enjoy the journey to get there!

Hi Ian thanks for sharing,I think we all wish things could happen a little quicker sometimes.'Life is a journey with problems to solve.lessons to learn but most of all experiences to enjoy'
All the best,Matt.

What a wonderful post. I couldn't agree with you more. Each day I learn something new and exciting. I look forward to reading everyone's comments. I commuted to a yearly membership so I wouldn't self sabotage and give up. I know that if I continue to learn and listen to the wonderful folks here in EA I will succeed. It's just a matter of time and effort on my part. Thank you for the great post. :)

Hi Valerie, thank you for your kind words and sharing your thoughts.I agree being here and the company we are privileged to share and learn from we can never fail Life is a journey to be enjoyed and lived because at the end the outcome is always the same.
