Work is Getting in the Way!

I've had a glorious 18-month stint being on part-time furlough.

This period gave me the time and space to reflect on my life and resulted in me joining WA back in December 2020.

I've not been the most consistent writer since I joined, but I had recently settled into a routine of creating blog posts, YouTube videos and Pinterest pins.

But then... furlough ended and I'm back working (and commuting) full time and am finding myself totally drained by the evening.

I've completely stalled!

My latest article is 6 days in the making and only 500 words!!

I know that I'm fortunate to have a paid full-time job, but it is such an unrewarding, depressing job that I am beginning to resent it. Especially given that it is getting in the way of my WA project.

How do you guys motivate yourselves to get up before 6am to churn out the articles?

Looking for some inspiration!

Matt

I'm with Muslimah
You've to set a realistic timer system
Time yourself to write X amount of words
Catch yourself at odd intervals until you develop a realistic routine
This will greatly improve your creativity juices in writing your blogs
Make a plan and stick to it

I'm lucky to be able to work on my blog full time but can understand your frustration. Don't try losing sleep as it will only make you tired. Instead just try and fit in a small amount of time each evening when you've had chance to rest. As Muslimah, said, even 30 minutes can make a big difference. Create a plan and draft out each post before writing. Spend time researching as well so you know what to write.

Thanks Kathy, some great advice there.

Set a realistic schedule, so you don't feel overwhelmed.
Possibly 1 -2 articles per week. You can dedicate 30 minutes daily to write 200 words, and within a week, you should have at least one article to publish.
Another option is to outsource to a freelancer if you have the means. But I'm yet to try it and don't have much info about it.
All the best.

Thank Muslimah. Yes, I'm going to have to lower my writing goals. So be it. Thanks again!!

Check your awake hours, earlier to bed may give you better quality of sleep, and then set your alarm for an hour earlier. Set a timer while you write

Schedule your writing days, you tube video days and pinterest days. That will help. 10- 20 min at a time.

Steady as you go, each day will bring forth more from your efforts, Matt.

Yes, I think I need a strict "lights out at 10:30pm" policy. That should enable me to get up at 5:30 to spend 45 minutes every morning doing some writing. I just LOVE my sleep so much!!

Time management is key! Do you commute via public transportation or drive yourself? If you use public transpo, you could do research and save or bookmark web pages.

And. I love my sleep, too...grin.

That's what I am doing.
Wishing you well, continued success and a terrific day.
