Photography - Calling all Amateurs

Just the other day I found myself responding to a request to review a Wealthy Affiliate member's photography, I was all to happy to help. You see as a trained photographer one of the classes I studied was to critique work. I haven't been asked to do this since my college days a few years ago. As I was looking through this paticular member's photos I found myself thinking, maybe there were other members interested in photography that might want help as well.

This being a Pay-It_Forward community, I have wanted to figure out a way that I could help others. My affiliate marketing skillls are at about the beginner level, so it is hard to help others with problems they are finding along the way., because generally I am finding the same problems. It is the more experienced members who have kept me on track with their expertise, and the fact that they are willing to share that knowledge with me.

I have another month before I can start to train, I would love to share my knowledge of photography in short training modules with Wealthy Affiliate members. Would this be appropriate since it is not directly related to affiliate marketing, and would there be an interest amongst the members. I would love some feedback. I don't profess to be an expert by any means but I am more than willing to share my knowledge with anyone who is interested.

:-)
Yes yes yes

It is still my plan, I just need to find the time to put it together.

Lol
We all do

Hi Mary

Yes, if you can offer your training from the angle of helping bloggers to take better photos to use on their blogs (that is us) ;-) it will be very relevant indeed! AND very much appreciated too! :-)

And us being bloggers - most of us are not "photographers" - so going into F-stops etc, may not be very helpful to us. So if you can focus on the "aim and shoot" photographer (to whom the manual settings are a foreign language), that would even be more helpful.

I take MANY photos, but they always look bland - I want to know how to get the rich and sparkly colors into my photos. I know they are digitally enhanced afterwards, but which programs should be used, etc?

You will be my hero if you can help us with that! ;-)

I love your profile photo - a very nice photo of you and your best friend! ;-) He seems to be used to be a model! ;-) LOL!

Wishing you much success and I'm looking forward to learn from you!

Hi Sharlee, I am in the process of putting together a training package to teach in the studio my husband and I own. I thought little excerpts from this training package could help the bloggers at WA. Keep watch, it could be a few weeks before they are ready. I am having my knee replaced next week and won't be working at my day job for 3 months. I hope to get a lot of photography and WA work accomplished during that time period.

Yes indeed that is my best friend. Duck Hudson feels the studio was built for him. As soon as a back drop is pulled to work on, he moves right in. As for the photo in the blog post, I shot that a few years ago, this is a quaint little park that I love. I sit many hours by the pond in the nice weather. It is so peaceful there, when life is crazy and stressful, I find it is the best medicine to reground myself.
Thanks for the respose to my blog, I hope that I can help you learn to take photos you are proud of.

Hi Mary

That sounds awesome - I'll keep an eye on my mailbox for your training! ;-) I am really looking forward to that!

Duck Hudson - what an awesome name! :-) LOL - well, you can never complain of having a shortage of willing models then! ;-) I mean, if you've got the cute-factor, and you probably know it too, who wouldn't want to photograph you all the time, eh? LOL! Soooo cute! :-)

Wow, I looked at that blog photo and thought it was awesome - well done! It indeed looks like such a peaceful, forget-all-your-worries haven! ;-) That is exactly what us bloggers wish to do as well - to be able to use our own photos.

I am looking forward to that! Thank you in advance! :-)

My Mom and a very good friend of ours both had knee replacements and it gave them a new leash on life - made such a difference - both said they wish they had it done earlier! I pray that it may be the same for you as well and wish you all of the very best and a speedy recovery Mary!

All the best!

Thank you

Thanks Chase for your comments, I would really like to offer some help back to the many members who have helped me along the way. This is one skill that I feel qualified to comment on and even train. I need to wait until I have been here 3 months before I can begin. The other roadblock is I need to learn how to create a training module. I will definitely look into this further, keep an eye out, hopefully I can put something together for the whole community. Thanks again.

That's very true. The training modules seem a bit difficult to learn - but hopefully a worthwhile investment. I'll keep a look out! Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out into the community here at WA!

I think quality photography is more important than people think. If you think you have more knowledge on photography than those who are not educated in the subject, then by all means, share if you are willing!

Definitely approach teaching photography as a means to an end - quality photography can ultimately benefit the online marketer because the image associated with a website or a website's article can be the initial hook, line, and sinker!

"Image" is everything! I'm sure a large percentage of the population would ignore an article with a poorly constructed and shot photo. Great photography is important because, let's face it, most people judge a book by its cover and the photo of an article is the cover! At least, essentially it can be seen this way.

My point being, if you're willing to help people with your knowledge, I think many people would benefit from your hard work creating modules. Definitely consider how to approach introducing the importance of photography to business minded people (as opposed to artistically minded people).

You sound like a very nice and genuine person. Thank you for offering to help us here at WA :)
