I succesfully changed my theme Part 2

As I said in my last blog I was successful in my theme change. I did, however have some adjustments that had to be made.

There were some fonts that were changed. One page had large easy to read print that my wife said she liked, not a problem. Some sentences were misconfigured to partially bold print. I had to rearrange so the bold print was where it should be.

When my mentor changed my previous theme to Colormag some of my paragraphs were boxed. I had SEO reports telling me that this was bad. It took a while but I finally realized that the boxes were there because of small pieces of code. All I had to do was delete the code and they were gone.

I had the same problem with changing to Colormag this time but my previous experience came back and I deleted the code and the boxes were gone.

I would suggest that before you try deleting code you have some previous updates that you can go back to if you delete the wrong code.

I have not noticed any problem with my plugins but I would suggest checking out Loes tutorial because not all theme changes go as smooth as mine did.

Please check Kyle's tutorial as it is a good explanation on how to change themes and check them out before you activate. You can also go back to your old theme.

Glad it all went smoothly Marty, thank for sharing my blog, others might not be that lucky

Good point Loes:-)

Thanks for sharing Marty:)

You are welcome and thanks for your comment.

Great work by the way :)
Changing code is a no-no unless you know what you are doing, I too made that mistake, big time, until I trained myself to do it correctly online using short courses for free!
Cheers, Tosh :)

The last time I was successful with changing code it went to my head. I did it again and my site was messed up. Support had to shut it down for 7 hours while they fixed my repair. LOL

Thanks for stopping by,
Marty

I know that feeling, lol :)

Thanks Marty for the info .. you have done well. Cheers, William.

You nare welcome William and thanks for your comment:-)

I have been very wary of changing my themes as I was more concerned I would have to change my coding.
plugins would not work and my post all fifty of them would disappear all my images would disappear. I would have to start from scratch.

I sound paranoid but these were my concerns especially if one is not familiar - Any way that fear and paranoia is gone as you did it and it seems okay

Thanks fr the ilnks

Kyle showed how you can look at the results before you activate.

When you do updates in your editor you can click on an old update and go back to it. with Colormag there was some code added that put boxes around some paragraphs. The code was at the beginning and ending of the boxed paragraph and was easy to indentify. I deleted that code but if it went bad I could go back to another update.

This is my experience and different themes may have other problems.
