The 3 percent mentality

This approach, the 3%-er lifestyle has somewhat become a trade mark for the all-in practitioner within the BJJ culture, however the 3% mentality, as stated within this post, is applicable in all areas of life. Pretty powerful. Check it out and let me know what you think.

97% of the World is going to die with regrets, and be forced to live inside of a lie, a lie they tell themselves, a lie they tell their kids, their grandkids but they know its a lie.
you do not want to die like that
but only 3% of the population won’t

• 3% are renegades. They do everything differently and are only about results.

• Results Are The Only Thing That Counts

It's not an elitist position, its not about winning at all cost
3%
- Think different

- Act different

- Operate different

- Live their lives different

- Train different

- and although this is from the angle of brazilian jiu jitsu, this can apply to anything, its’ about life

Its about a FACT
A FACT that in the world we live in
Everyone WANTS something
But
FEW are WILLING to do what needs to be done to fullfill their
deepest most meaningful WANTS

In the 3%er the WILLer is ALWAYS BIGGER than the WANTer
In the 97%er the WANTer (and the WHINEr) is always BIGGER than the WILLer

97/3 is about a FACT
a FACT that 97% of the population aren't WILLING
to do what it takes to acheive their dreams.. WHATEVER that is.

World Champion

Millionaire

Awesome Parent

Honorable Spouse

Athlete

Whatever

97% of the population will believe it when people tell them
they can't have their dream
shouldn't go for their dream
its impossible
too small
too short
too ugly
too slow
too old

97% of the population
will believe it when the inevitable self -sabotage
excuses show up in their heads and they quit

you don't need this
you don't really need to do this
you're tired
nobody will know
dial it back just a bit
cmon its friday
etc…

So lets be clear 97/3 is about pushing ALL YOUR CHIPS into
the middle of the table and GOING FOR IT... (what ever your IT is)
and KEEPING AFTER IT no matter what others who can't
see your vision might say....

The people who don't see your vision
but choose to ACTIVELY tear your vision down
actively try to sabotage you...
THEY are the "haters"
THEY ARE the 97%

97/3 is also about another FACT

3% of the population feel a desire deep in their heart
a desire they neither made up nor chose. They just woke
up one day and it was there.

It might be to become World Champion
It might be to become an Olympian
It might be to help homeless people
It might be anything

Being a 3% isn't about GETTING GOLD... you don't get kicked out of the 3%
if you fall short...

The final score does NOT reflect 100% of the time who is 3% and who is 97%
Its just like POSITIVE THINKING THOUGH....
Chances of success thinking positively has a FAR better track record than any other option
Chances of success being in the 3% equally has a FAR better track record than any other option

Its not about "winning" its about being willing to do what's needed to be done to be
GREAT!!! Winning is just the most common byproduct of becoming great.

But just 3% (a VERY small number of people in the population)
will ever get to the end of their life and lay on their death
bed and not feel "regret"

Not think
I shoulda, I woulda, I coulda.

3% accept NO excuse
3% accept NO obstacle
3% just do what needs doing until the job is done.

ANYONE you look up to
ANYONE who has accomplished ANYTHING BIG in ANY field
from spirituality all the way to music, sports, nutrition, medicine, farming, whatever...

Just look around and the difference between those who have MASTERED
their FATE and those who have been the VICTIM of fate
is the difference between the 97 and the 3

If you have a goal to become a bjj champion and you have 2 jobs and 5 kids and can only train 2 times a week the 97% will tell you all of the reasons why they can't or won't- or how someone else CAN because they have access to something they don't,

where the 3% don't make excuses, they do the best you can with what you got and put everything into those 2 days a week.

THE 97% make excuses

don't worry about it you only lost because he had more stripes than you
he was stronger than you
he's more athletic than you
it's ok you almost caught him in that armbar
look he's holding his leg and even though you didn't win at lease he is limping
insert whatever BJJ Bitchassness LANGUAGE you want here

3 PERCENTERS are

• Immune to criticism
• No Whining,Bitching or Moaning
• Take fast action
• Are turned off by the other side 97%
• Pick themselves up quickly and back into the game (me recently)
• Don’t blame others for their failures
• Not afraid to fail (everyone has fear,3% just deal with it)
• Take responsibility for their own actions
• When they get specialized knowledge

What do you do
What do you want
what is your choice?

For me it was a simple choice

But ultimately the CHOICE is yours- it has nothing to do with me, nothing to do with your coach, nothing to do with your family or friends, its your LIFE

AND JUST LIKE THE LATE GREAT JIM ROHN SAID

WALK AWAY FROM THE 97%

DONT USE THEIR VOCABULARY,

DONT USE THEIR EXCUSES

DONT GO WHERE THEY GO

DONT DO WHAT THEY DO

DONT TALK LIKE THEY TALK

DEVELOP YOU A WHOLE NEW LANGUAGE

BE PART OF THE FEW

It all comes down to a choice
a choice to be great
to do great
to feel great
to think great
to BECOME GREAT

or to do what everyone else is doing ...
"just getting by- living inside of their own lie
