I would like to know more about how to make a high converting landing page.
When you say Landing Page, do you mean the Sales Page or are you wanting to create a Squeezepage to grab their email for marketing purposes?
A landing page is web page which serves as the entry point for a website or a particular section of a website. A squeeze page is a landing page designed to capture opt-in email addresses from potential subscribers. Does this help to clarify?
There are widgets you can get through your word press. When you click on add a widget type in landing page in the search and you can find several.
Do these work for opt in to build up a good email list? Should I give them anything or just simply offer a good monthly newsletter informing them of offers or products and good content?
Yes I have an opt in using Mail Chimp. When someone is ready to leave my website it pops up requesting sign up. When they do it is forwarded to my Mail Chimp responder and is in my system for future mailings
I signed up with mail chimp but I only have the free thing until I start getting traffic to my website which doesn't seem to be happening that quick. Is there any tricks for getting better targeted traffic? Should I pay for traffic or no? Is it a time sensitive thing to be able to get traffic to my website? I posted it on my facebook but no one really did anything with it. I am going to be releasing a short ebook with my free gift to get subscribers that way and I will see how that works. I am also letting them know about my website too. I guess I am getting a little worried but I just started. Is this normal?
The problem with some of the paid traffic is you get a lot of traffic that drives up your bounce rate. There are some sources but I can't recommend them on public display due to policies. Keep adding content and promoting on the social sites. Get some links and backlinks to your site and the traffic will come in time.
okay awesome, I just published my first ebook with a link to a subscription with a free gift. I hope this helps the process a little faster. I thought about paid traffic just to get a mail list started but I don't think that will work as much as I want it to. I guess with time everything will come along. I am going to dabble in writing a few ebooks with links within them. I want to make money but with good content and then people can choose.

The best way is to provide top notch content for your reader. Give them value that knocks their socks off! Maybe offer some great content they can download giving you the opportunity to stay in contact with your followers and build a relationship with them. Have you ever heard of the Law of Reciprocity? It basically says that when someone does something nice for you, you will have a deep-rooted psychological urge to do something nice in return.
