Memeber area and member profile plugin

Hi
I want to create a section within my website where people can become members and create their own profile with their pic, select their favorite genre of books, their location, etc.
How do I do this?

You do have big plans. This all depends on the theme you are using if the theme does not support this it won't be an easy thing to do.
