Google and I or is it Me?

My fourth month with WA is nearly over and I decided I would review what I have done with my website. I was on page one with Google with 2 keywords and all was rosy.
I have been writing blog posts and searching for long tailed keywords laboring under the illusion everything was on track and before long I would have a tonne of traffic visiting my website..
Everything is not OK.
Google and I do not have a seamless relationship.
I am not using Google Webmaster tools correctly. This knowledge smacked me in the face when I entered my sitemap into the appropriate tools area and up came an error report.

I caused this because I changed the site without letting Google know. One more lesson learned.
Fortunately, I have the opportunity to ask for help. I sent out an SOS and within a few hours I received a reply asking for more clarity about my problem.
The truth is I didn’t bother reading through the instructions from Google or look at the webinar on the subject in WA, which was easy to understand. I know because I watched it today. Better late than never!
At least I got the XML Sitemap Plugin onto my website correctly thanks to Kyle’s straight forward instructions.
What I have to do now is begin Progress Course 5 again and be glad I hadn’t learned an even harder lesson.
At 2:00 this afternoon I was going to throw it all in as I was feeling very sorry for myself and convinced I had chosen a lousy niche.
I know that asking questions helps others as well as me so I will be asking more and answering others when I can.
As I write this, I am feeling calmer and more responsible because I have been heard because I bothered to ask.
Thank you WA community.
