I've Disabled Jetpack

In The Beginning, It Seemed Good
For a while I was using the WordPress plugin Jetpack by Automattic. There were a number of reasons why I installed this in the first place. Mainly it was a one stop shop for all sorts of features for my websites.
I made full use of the Publicize, Contact Form, Sharing, Stats, Extra Widgets, and many other features.
My experience was good – or so I thought. After a while I certainly noticed a clear lag in pages loading and after disabling plugins one at a time it all came back to Jetpack.
Realizing Performance Issues

I recognized that Jetpack frequently had to connect to WordPress.com / Automattic's servers to work properly, especially for the status functionality, but I kind of counted on it being a quick request that did not add a lot to the page load time. It seems that maybe the server cluster load at WordPress.com goes in waves and sometimes the request takes longer than others.
I can't deal with the slow performance though so three days ago I went through all of my sites and disabled Jetpack.
Replacements
Instead of using WordPress.com Stats via Jetpack I will now just use Google Analytics.
Instead of using Contact Form via Jetpack I've gone back to old faithful – Contact Form 7.
Instead of using Popular Posts via Jetpack I've gone back to WordPress Popular Posts plugin.
Rather than using Publicize via Jetpack I'm trying NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster. This one I've just started with so we will see how it works out. It looks promising and even better than Jetpack at first glance.
Everything else I'm leaving off for now and not worrying about replacing.
Now all of my websites are loading quicker even though I have replaced 1 plugin (Jetpack) with 3 plugins.
