This is PERFECT timing. I was looking at ebook as a way to publish my novel (now that the stigma is gone from self-publishing), and read the exact same thing on Smashwords - a stunning cover is the hook.

Vicki, I am so glad I helped you. The cover of a book is usually the first thing a person sees and it certainly can make an impression. We are naturally programed to look at images more than words. An image when we see it makes us have a feeling about something. A cover makes us say , "hey that's for me".
Bookmarks always are good. The saying goes "The business is the list, and the list is the business". Ebooks can help built that list.
