Niche discovery weekly: stationery
Hi Folks,
Welcome back to Niche Discovery Weekly, the series where I take one simple idea and see if it can turn into a profitable niche using the tools inside Wealthy Affiliate.
This week’s word is a little nostalgic. We’re diving into stationery.
(Yes, I'm aware of the misspelling in the Google slide)
While the world is glued to screens, there’s still something timeless about notebooks, pens, bullet journals, and all the little things that make writing feel personal again. So I ran “stationery” through Jaaxy, Amazon, and NameGenuity to see if it actually has niche potential. Spoiler. It does.
Inside Jaaxy, I found everything from stationery supplies to bullet journaling to luxury stationery for professionals. Even subscription boxes and personalized gift angles popped up. Big searches. Active social engagement. Plenty of demand.
Amazon backed it up with whole categories: writing instruments, journals, art supplies, school products, filing systems. Basically, if you enjoy opening a new notebook, there’s a market waiting.
And to cap it off, Namegenuity surfaced some solid brandable domains. After digging through the list, FolioDex.com stood out as the strongest fit. Clean. Modern. Easy to build a vibe around.
So yes, stationery looks surprisingly strong as a niche idea with real product depth, real search interest, and plenty of branding potential.

Dude are you kidding me, this is literally one of the websites I was working on lmao, I have a major thing for stationery. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to scrap it and incorporate it into another site; I am still trying to make that decision. (In the midst of everything else--which is why I'm considering consolidating.) So I was really happy to see this--I think I did an actual double take, but a small one with just my eyes because I am tired, it is past my bedtime and I am looking at a screen.
Probably *won't* consolidate, because the stationery stands on its own...but it's another iron in the fire. One that I already started, though, so...there's that. The office supply nerd in me says to keep it going.
Anyway, good night 😄, and thanks for another great post.
Love those serendipitous moments! lol
Here's a screenshot with some Pinterest monthly search volume numbers JUST with stationery alone! Seems like a snazzy idea to me.
This is great, thank you for this screenshot. :) I love designing it for home printing, and I was planning to become an affiliate with a company as well. I actually used the article writer in the hub a couple of months ago to write a post about physically writing on personalized stationery :).
And I love that you used "serendipitous;" it's a happy word and I was pleasantly surprised by it. LOL.
Thanks!
I thought Jay spelled 'stationery' wrong, lol. The other spelling (stationary) means 'not moving'...
Thanks, Amber :)
Teri
Correct! "Stationary" is definitely a much more commonly-used term, and "stationery" is very specific.
You can write on your stationery while riding on your stationary bike--but only if you are very coordinated 😄

I'm so glad you showcased this niche.
My niche is stationery, but I focus mostly on letter writing and snail mail. My website is called Dearly Postmarked. There are a lot of items you can sell and lots to write about. I'm still growing and evolving, and I know my website reflects this as I continue blogging.
I join mail swaps all the time, I have pen pals, and I write to friends and family. I share on my website about all the things I'm passionate about when it comes to old fashioned correspondence.
