How to Add Yourself Into Your AI Images

I’ve learned two things while playing around with AI:

  1. AI loves a good prompt
  2. AI really loves when you throw your own face into the mix

Instead of messing around with tripods, ring lights, and hoping the dogs don't photobomb (yeah.. it's happened 😂), I wanted to see if I could drop me right into a candy-making kitchen scene. Apron, flour, the whole deal.

And thanks to Google Whisk, it actually worked.

In this vlog, I show you how I took a simple headshot, asked Chappie (my ChatGPT) for an awesome prompt, and let Google Whisk do the magic. The result?

AI images that made it look like I’ve been baking cakes my whole life (spoiler: I haven’t).

The best part? It’s free, fast, and a whole lot more fun than begging a friend to play photographer.

So if you’ve ever wondered what you’d look like whipping up sweets in a Pinterest-perfect kitchen, watch this vlog and I’ll show you the trick.

Here is the prompt I used:

A young man sitting in a modern coffee shop, natural morning light through large windows, casually dressed in a hoodie, looking at an open laptop on the table. The screen clearly shows the phrase “Make Better Text in AI” in bold, clean sans-serif font. Warm tones, realistic detail, shallow depth of field with background slightly blurred, cinematic photography style, 4K resolution.

I don't know how you got such a good result. I typed in the following prompt and I got terrible results (attached). It altered my face so it's not the same as my actual image and I don't know where the badger image comes into play when I mentioned pets...
Create a YouTube thumbnail image, size 1280x720 pixels.
Title text on the thumbnail: “Our Pets DO Go to Heaven” (make the text large, bold, and easy to read).

Insert my uploaded image into the thumbnail. Do not alter my image.
Blend it with topic-relevant imagery such as:
- A bright heavenly sky with clouds and soft light rays.
- Subtle paw prints or angel wings to symbolize pets in heaven.

Design should be warm, uplifting, and comforting.
Ensure contrast between text and background so the title stands out clearly. Put PeopleLovingAnimals.com at the bottom of the thumbnail

I believe when you use terms 'such as', you are letting the AI system interpret what you mean.

Try to be more direct and remember to put what you want written in "quotes" AND use the term Phrase - as I mentioned in the video.

Here is my actual prompt:

Prompt- A man working on a laptop inside a classic American diner located on Mars. The diner has chrome details, red booths, and neon lights. Outside the windows, the Martian red desert and twin moons are visible. Around him, friendly Martians of various shapes and sizes sit at booths, sipping glowing drinks, chatting, and eating futuristic meals. The man looks focused on his laptop as the Martians glance curiously at his work. Ultra-realistic, cinematic, vibrant details.

I am liking this, Thanks for sharing Jay!

Thanks, Jay for this trick with two different tools Chatty/Chappie and Whisk. I never heard of the second tool until now.

Before I clicked "Post" this comment, I was also trying something new inspired by this short professional video. I uploaded my face to ChatGPT-5 and asked it directly to make different poses of me (standing, sitting, smiling, pointing, writing with a pen and paper, typing with a laptop).

The result?
So amazing!

Thanks Jay. This is a great tool, and I'm looking forward to using it.
For camera shy ones like me, this may help make the whole including pictures of ourselves easier to do.
