My Whys: Thoughts & Musings

I've been doing a lot of thinking about my 4 main whys I'm pursuing Internet Marketing/Affiliate Marketing or Online business through Wealthy Affiliate.

Shaking off my dependence on SSI

I went on SSI Disability over 30 years ago with the idea that it was going to be only temporary, but 37 years later, I'm still on it, but I never gave up trying, and I'm not giving up now. It bought me time to face my issues, and change my mindset, but it didn't really make me comfortable being on the largess of the federal government or the state governent. It wasn't really a living, just existence.

One of the things I learned about SSI, is that they punish you for trying to get ahead, they don't really appreciate losing people. But I want a better life without worrying about an emergency that might pop up unexpectantly next week, next month, next year. I don't want to depend on just one stream of income either. You don't have a quality of life, and that's what I'm looking for now, even though I'm in "my golden years".

I want to replace the "income" I'm getting with SSI, surpass it and then wean myself off of SSI and never have to worry about returning to it again. I want to truly live, and have at least 3 streams of consistent income, one of which would affiliate marketing, one would be Kindle Publishing, and one would be nurturing my community in a membership area. At least to start with. Later, I can make other goals. But to surpass my SSI, by a little, then a lot, and a whole lot, that's is my big "why".

I *do* believe that money doesn't buy happiness, but it can "buy" freedom, and when you've been poor, you focus on what you don't have, in a way that people who are comfortable don't have to. You tend to be more self-absorbed than most, and this isn't healthy for mind, body or spirit. And I'm tired of living this way. I no longer want to think only of myself, worry about making ends meet. And I think I can help people by simply having the freedom of a better life. Poverty doesn't buy happiness either. Believe it! Either so rich you are disconnected from people and are self-absorbed, or too poor to think about anyone else, both are unbalanced, and unhealthy. There has to be a better way!

Provide For My Family

One of the things I read about online incomes is that it allows you to provide for your family. For me, it doesn't matter who provides for our family (of 2), me or my husband. I've come to believe that I *do* deserve a better life, and some of the creature comforts that most people take for granted.

I'd like to have a better house (with a better kitchen), It doesn't have to be a "McMansion", just a livable house that we can have a home base, and that I can look forward to working from, This is something I've never experienced. I'd like to be able to invest in my future, and I believe in my heart that an online empire can do this, and that Wealthy Affiliate can help with. I'm aiming for a Condo or Townhouse

Being Affluent Would Allow Me to Help More People

One if my most fervent hopes that while I can help people now, being in a position where I have more funds to help more, would teach the people I teach that what I call The Victory Lifestyle shows on the outside, not just on the inside. That is, it's not just what's in the mindset that changes behavior, but that manifests on the outside with a quality of life that reflects excellence, hope, and that we can always change. It doesn't have to start when you're in your 20's and 30's, but it can happen in your golden years too, long after people are considered to be "retired".

Some of the people that I look up to, Joe Vitale, Connie Ragen Green, Dennis Becker, are all affluent, but they are not self-absorbed people. They use part of what they have to help people to have better lives than sometimes the "powers-that-be" seem to want them to have. I want to join this group. It's not about popularity with me, It's about as I grow in my online empire, I can help more and more people.

Charity

I'd like to eventually start a charity that would provide not so much medical aid, but moral support for children who are catastrophically sick or injured. Like burn victims, kids with cancer, kids with muscular dystrophy, as well as their families. When a kid's sick, everything just...stops. The family can't move forward, the other siblings feel left out because the parents are only worried about the sick or injured people. There's no time for the siblings, and they grow to resent the injury or the illness that is getting in the way and between what they need, support as well. I'd like to have activities for the siblings, so they can feel important again, or at least seen and not invisible, just there. I'd call this Cookies & Ice Cream Foundation.

Another chariity I'd like pursue is to pass out fire extinguishers to those who do not have them like the Gideons pass out Bibles. Also courses in how to use them and which fire extinguisher for which fire, and how not to panic in the event of a fire. This would be for Residences and Businesesses. I think this would save a lot of lives.

But I can only have this once I am successful with an online empire. So this is what keeps me going and gets me out of bed, and believe me, this isn't as easy as I want it to be, believe me!

What are you're "whys"? List them below. And have a great day!

Good aims.

Thanks! :)

Hello Katherine,

What great aspirations! I too would like to be able to do something like that to give something back to society.

I wish you success in all your ventures.
Have a wonderful day!

Thank you! Much appreciated. I'll be working on my next milestone, for me, that is, finishing and publishing my first post/article! :)

You are most welcome.

Have a wonderful day!

Those are some fantastic "whys" here Katherine...

Keep on persevering my friend and you will reach your goals and dreams!

Thanks, Jessie! I'll be taking a few days off my involvement with the community so I can finish writing and publishing my first post; my next milestone!

That's a great plan Katherine... after all our businesses should always come first my friend!

:D

Great aspirations, Katherine!👍

Go for it! 😊

Frank

Thanks, Frank! I'll be working on my first post for a while. I don't know about others, but getting this finished and written will be a milestone for me.

One step at a time, Katherine! 😎

Shoot for the stars, Maghdalena! That is what will give you the drive to do what you desire and achieve all of your wishes, my friend!

Jeff🙏

Thanks, Jeff. It's a goal, anyway, lol. On to working on my post (and designing holiday cards for my family and a few neighbors) :)

You're very welcome, Maghdalena! The card-making sounds like Great fun too!

Jeff

Thanks. I do it every year, and I'd make my own cards when I had our paper route, the original and the non-subscriber. I used PrintMaster up until last year, then use Print Artist. Can't beat those templates, lol!

That sounds awesome! As a kid, I used to run with a family that had a motor route. Their youngest son and I were the same age. They made some big bucks back then when papers were mainstream. Good luck with the Christmas cards!

Jeff

That was in the past, Jeff. They switched to having the post office deliver the papers, then canceled the nonsubscriber paper, but last year, we still got several hundred dollars. When we had 3 routes, we pulled in over 1000-1200 dollars worth, because we always bagged the papers and put them where the customers wanted them. All a part of relationship marketing. It just came naturally. 😃

It still sounded lucrative enough, Maghdalena, and customer service is alwyas a winner, my friend!

Jeff

It sure is, Jeff, and thank you! I sure miss my 'peeps, though. I still see them occasionally. They're pretty much in a condo community across the street. I think for a lot of them we weren't just their paper carriers(my husband and I did it together, and for a while a dog I had, a Pit Bull Terrier/mix. We were their "special project". So I know first hand.

Because at the end of the day, we're all still people! :)

Yes, Maghdalena! We are, indeed!

Jeff

Keep on your current path and stay focused.

Best of luck!

-Mike

Thanks, Mike! Will do. I want to focus on working on my first post for my site, though, so may take a few days off responding to posts till it's done, though.

Thanks for the reminder to stay focused. That's still an issue for my ADHD brain and mind, but it's my site and training that has to be first in my training, :)

You’ll get there with persistence and taking a step forward each day. Also, it’s a great plan to ALWAYS publish to your website first as that is what is going to provide you income — internal WA posts will not.

Lastly, as Jeff said below — shoot for the stars and (my add) if you only get to the moon — that is still a great thing!

-Mike

Thanks, Mike!

Be consistent and don't give up. People have to have a reason to come back to your site. Give them that reason by providing them with helpful information, Post at least once a week. Affiliate marketing is good and it gives you experience, but selling your own digital products is better. Amazon Books is the obvious platform but be sure to check out GumRoad. Their Mailinglist/autoresponder is free.
If you need help don't hesitate to DM me.
Set up your non-profit and build your website to promote it. Build your network of friends and supporters. If people believe in what you are doing they will support you. Use Go Fund Me as a way for them to contribute.
Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

I plan to provide as much value as I can, while learning as much about Adult ADHD as possible, lol.

My first goal (not monetary) is to post once a week and get at least 50 posts done by the end of the year, hopefully more, of course. I'd like to post twice a week, but I think the main focus is to post once a week to start a goal with, then go up to twice a week, lol.

I agree with Affiliate Marketing. That's why I want to have more than one stream. Affiliate Marketing would only be one stream, and I am especially interested in writing for Kindle. I'm also interested in writing short reports to get psyched for writing short books (to build up my confidence, and also because my market is easily distracted, so I'm better off with short books, and I can write them in series or collections.

Cookies & Ice Cream is a little ways away, I'd like to be successful with Victory Infopublishing first, and then it will be easier to organize Cookies & Ice Cream, as I want it to be tax-exempt, and I just don't have the money for the 501 (C) (3) fee, at this time anyway. I have an idea for my logo, though. But it should push me to do my best and highest. Thanks a lot for the Go Fund Me idea. I hadn't really considered that. It would be a .org domain. I could probably get the domain now, though. I've been putting it off because I have to time my domains so I don't have too many domains due in one month. I usually get them over at Namecheap,

I think that some of my network of supporters would be from Victory Infopublishing, and eventually a church I want to build (Metaphysical), but I want to wait til I get my bachelor's and ordination before starting that for right now. That's for the future when I have a network. When Cookiees & Ice Cream is put together though, I'll let the community here know, and where the website it. A lot has to get done between now and then for that, though, but thanks for the suggestions and support, Bill! :)
