Hi Maggi, You can link between websites that is fine. Just remember to link to relevant content otherwise your visitor will click away.
As regards to your affiliate links and being paid, you will get paid via the company who you are promoting... so if your weight loss product is the affiliate they they will pay you under their terms of service.

I want to use this as my niche and gather lots of weight loss products into this website as an affiliate. When the site earns money does the money come back to WA and you pay me?
no, you are paid directly.
Do I need to pay myself a commission to do the affiliate linking process?
when you start to sell your own products you will need to create your own cells page and link this to your own account.
For the moment, my recommendation would be to follow the training and then grow from there. For instance, you cannot do anything without traffic and until you learn how to drive traffic it doesn't matter how many products you sell or How many affiliate links you have no one will view them. Don't give up
