Heya, I have a question for all of you wonderful people out there in WA. It can be very basic and many people might have asked you before. But please excuse me, this is just fo

I always try to go for high traffic low competition (under 200 comp) but this isn't always easy according to the popularity of a keyword. I've read recently that it's best to just find the best keyword you can but don't let this dictate your article/post, as it might hinder your creativity.

Some posts will come from many other places such as social media, this is more targeted as your followers will already be interested in what you have to say. So you could use that advantage to generate some comments on a post which will in turn help it get noticed by Google :)

Hi...go for higher-moderate traffic and low competition...think of it this way ...if you have 9 competitors you'll likely be page 1 in 10th spot....if you have 29 competitors you'll likely be 3rd page in 30th spot....if you have 150 competitors....well you get the point. This may sound simplistic but it's pretty much the way to think about it

If you can find a keyword that has below 10 competitors then you'll rank

There are other factors such as website age, domain trust, (look up your moz score)...but I found when i started that there are lots of keywords with 150+ monthly traffic and very low competition and they are easy to rank for

Hi Jason, I understand your point. This strategy will get me a ranking in Google but what about the traffic. Do you reckon having a traffic of 50 or 100 is enough for a beginner? Thanks.

Like it is explained by Kyle, something with a competition of less than 100 is perfect when starting out ... If it has a little traffic this is also ok .. if the traffic is higher then fine...

It is better to be ranked on low competition keywords with a small amount of traffic than not to be ranked at all on a competitive keyword and you do not get traffic whatsoever.

Hope this helps

Chris

Hey Magesh,
What was the QSR for this keyword you found?

As a beginner, it's best to go for low traffic, low competition. Here's a great article that will give you some insight. Hope it helps answer your question.

You'll be able to go for the higher competition, once your website is going for a while, but for now, keep it simple.
Best,
Stephen

Hi BigMook,

The following are the stats for this keyword search I carried out.

Avg monthly = 1068
Traffic = 182
QSR=65
KQI = GREEN
SEO=87

By the way, the traffic option in Jaaxy, is that the daily potential traffic?

Cheers
Magesh

QSR of 65 is pretty good, but your site is still very new, so I'd stick with 20 or below. Even 10 or less. That's me personally. Even if the traffic is low. Try for higher traffic of course, but usually with low QSR, follows lower traffic. Most of my very low qsr's are ranking in google within a day that I publish.

Jason gives a great example below. QSR of 0-10 page 1 of google. 11-20, page 2 of google, 21-30 page 3, etc. Again, in time you can go for the higher qsr, but lower the better at this point. And the traffic noted is for monthly visits not daily. Its a low estimate.

Hi all, today is my 2nd day in WA, I am beginner to affiliate space. I have been watching a lot of videos online lately on how to select a good niche. I understand most of the

How I do the niche?

Hi and welcome to WA. If you follow the training, you will learn all about choosing your own niche. Kyle does a great job in explaining it. Click on the green "Get Started Here" tab and you can begin the training. :)

Hi Magesh,

I see you've already gotten some great advice, which I agree with 100%. I'd like to add my two cents for what it's worth if I may...

Think about the things you really love doing such as a hobby or something you enjoy doing and would find as fun or interesting to you to keep learning more about, and writing about. Write them down in a list.

Check these out on the internet and if there is competition, don't worry about it. Competition is actually a good thing, it means there will be people interested in it. Some niches have a lot, and it may take a little longer to get there, but WA will teach you how to get to the top of Google.

Look up if there are affiliate programs related to whatever niches you might like. If so, then people are likely buying products related to it.

Once you've checked out all of the niches that interest you, pick the one that you find the most interesting to yourself, don't worry about the money yet. If you work at it and are passionate about it, the money will find you.

My advice too is to think about what you'd want to be known for being "the go to person or website" for people needing help in that niche. Starting out is the hardest thing, I had a lot of difficulty picking a niche myself when I first started here.

In truth, I picked one that yes, I'm interested in, but not the "one" that I truly want to be known for in the long haul. So, I recently started out again on a new niche, but I still have my first one and it does make some money every month.

Niches aren't set in stone, if you decide you chose the wrong one it's okay. You can always start another if you find you chose one that you're not as passionate about as you thought, and you really truly want to do something else. It's a learning experience, not a failure.

Whatever you choose, put the work in on it, do each task that is set out in the lessons and give it a chance to get there before trying another niche. It's hard to put in the work required on more than one at a time when you're first starting out.

I hope that helps you out in some way or another...
Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Thank you sherry for the wonderful tip. I am starting to understand your statement "Niches aren't set in stone" . Excellent!

I'm in MageshK situation at the moment, and your advice Shery is really helpful. Thanks

Hi prettymercy,
Glad to hear you find it helpful...

It can be tough starting out and trying to pick a niche, but usually there really isn't a "wrong" one as long as other people are interested in it too.

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

I wouldn't worry about competition, the fact that it exists means it is a viable niche. You'll also have sites that you can research to give you ideas and inspiration for articles/posts.

Another good idea is to use tools such as....

http://ubersuggest.org/

Go there and type in a niche, hit the suggest button and you will be inundated with suggestions for things to write about. It always helps to pick a topic you're passionate about but with that particular tool you could pretty much find endless ideas to write about. Even topics you're unfamiliar with.

Thanks so much. I will go check this link right away.

Welcome to WA Magesh!

Not sure if you have seen these videos on choosing a niche -

1) 2) 3) These should help you in selecting a niche. I think there is no perfect niche, but you should choose one that you are passionate about, and something you can keep on writing about. You can also check if there are affiliate programs available.

I just started a few months back and I think everyone has gone through this confusion at some point. But we all just took the plunge. Maybe you can write the top 5 niches that you can think of, top of mind. Then filter through the possibilities of each.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the links. You guys are very helpful.

Hi Raquel, I just viewed your profile and glad to notice that you are from Australia as well. I live in Melbourne Australia. Hope your amazing journey in the affiliate world is going fine. I am a beginner and have been with WA for the last 1 week to be precise. I now have started researching some long tail keywords on Jaaxy to find my niche. Hope to get that light bulb moment soon.

By now you must have gained momentum and got some good foundation I guess. Please share with me any tips or suggestions that you think as a beginner will help me. Also please do recommend any mentors with in WA whom you have come across in your journey here if you don't mind. I am more than willing to learn new tricks of the trade from pro's here..
Anyways I will let you go.. Do keep in touch.
Cheers

Great to hear! Im based in Sydney. Continue to work on your chosen niche. Jaaxy is a wonderful tool, Im sure you'll get more ideas.

Im also new to this space and I just learned along the way. Still learning more and more everyday, but I can say that I know more now than I did on day 1. Just follow the training. You will learn as you go along, and by doing. There are soooo many helpful people here. Just write your question and someone is bound to help you. :-)

I can't help you choose your niche, but I can tell you not to worry about the competition. WA teaches you how to "beat" the competition with keywords in your articles that you'll be writing.

All I can suggest is that your niche should be something you're passionate about and/or knowledgeable about. Something you like talking about and sharing with others. Don't just pick a "hot topic" from Google trends. If you do, make sure its a topic you want to talk about. Don't search for where or how you'll make money. That will come by choosing the niche you want to talk about.
