So it has been a hectic week off from work. If any one follows the Canadian Market (TSX) you probably would have heard of the resent blunder with company's in the alliterative mortgage lending market, specifically Home Capital Group (HCG). This blunder causing huge volatility within these publicly traded companies. I saw this as a good opportunity to perhaps do some quick in and out trades as there has been some very good price movements for quick profits. Being that I am fairly new to day trading my first trade on HCG went south as I ended up "chasing" a set up. Fortunately I am very strict and cut my losses quickly. Ended up only being -$250. I Regrouped and near the end of the day I took another position to give it another go. I closed it the following day shortly after market open for a healthy profit. That night (Tuesday, May 2) I spotted an excellent earnings report posted by Kinross gold, landing it on my watch list for the next day. To keep it short I posted my order before market open which I closed exactly 21 minutes later for a nice quick profit of roughly $660 putting me in the green for the week of around $1150.
Between this, my daily tasks and putting in a lot of research on the housing market in Canada as well as the alliterative mortgage lending market it ate up most of my off time putting WA on the back burner. Being that its back to work tomorrow and that I work 12 hour days I will have very little down time until my next set of days off.
As I continue to expand my knowledge within the stock market as well as here on WA, I am finding time management to be pretty critical during days off (Reminds me of the days back in school). Just want to see what others have to say on this topic of time management and finding balance. Regardless I look forward to continue to put in the work and achieve my goals!
