Memorial Day Tribute: Wilson D. Watson Medal Of Honor Recipient
Memorial Day is the day that is set aside to remember with gratitude and pride all those who served and died for our country and our freedom.
Wilson D. Watson was a United States Marine Corp private who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on Iwo Jima during World War II. He single-handedly killed 90 enemy soldiers, this enabling his platoon to advance, earning him the name "One-Man Regiment" of Iwo Jima.
After World War II, Watson continued his military service in the United States Army. He was a hero to our country but most of all he was my father.
Thank you for your service, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten. In loving memory your daughter.
