Where Do You Work From At Home?

This featured image was taken a few minutes ago from where I am sitting, tucked up in my bed in my bedroom while I work. I know that a lot of people say that working from bed is not good for your posture but for me I absolutely love it.

Winter is on its way so while it may look like a stunning day there is a still a chill in the mornings, so being tucked under my blanket and being warm and cosy rocks. I can remember plenty of days getting up in the dark and having to put something smart on (ie not comfy) for work, leaving in the cold and dark... and coming home in the cold and dark.

Working from my bed and staring out at the beach says to me "You've made it Lynne, this is THE life". Because not everyone can make a full time income from their bed can they?

When you see training videos that I have uploaded here, 90% of them have been created from this comfy spot. Yes I am in bed, because I CAN.

The next place I work from is the couch in my living room - this is where I move to when my kids are home so I can work and keep a beady eye on them. They regularly get up to mischief so I have to ensure I am close to them.

I also work from the dining room table at times, depending on what's happening.

I do actually have an office - in fact the whole upstairs of our house is technically my office but I hardly ever work there. My office has a bathroom and a balcony overlooking the sea... and a double bed in it because it also doubles as our spare room when family comes to stay.

I have a lovely, big, old wooden desk set up with my pc and printer. But usually when I work from my office I work from the bed since it is right next to the window overlooking the ocean... I like being cosy.

Yet another lovely post Lynne. As Saffers we live well, very well. I'm often found stroking the keys at " my beach office" (I'm a volunteer safety boat skipper, that's my excuse anyway), the back stoep(porch) at the cottage looking out on a Southern Drakensberg vista (World Heritage site) is another of my favorites and even when I'm city bound my office window invites a garden rich with bird life and rampant foliage.

Les

How wonderful Les and yes you are so right, we are very blessed here!

What a beautiful view to work to! My dream is to one day have acreage and be able to sit on a verandah working looking out over the bush! At present I work at the dining table so I can keep an eye on Master 13 whilst he does his online distance education lessons.

View is currently of the unmown backyard :/

Yes I work at the dining room table when my oldest does her homework :) She just started school this year, how time flies!

My oldest is in her second year out of school, working full-time, and off camping with friends for the long weekend! I don't know where the time has gone!

I just know I am going to blink and my girl will be out of school too!

It's how it happens!

It is, it feels like yesterday I was crying over my first positive pregnancy test.

Good day, Lynne. Sounds like the life we would all like to have. Unfortunately, If I tried to work from my bed I would probably fall asleep :)

I do have a little office spot that is near a window that has a small view of our backyard.

Summer is coming here and the days are already warm enough to sit outside at a little table on our patio which I would love to do if it weren't for the daycare next door.

That said, it is nice to look out the window and see Spring in full swing with new growth on the trees.

As others have said, your view is amazing, very quiet and tranquil. A little jealous but, maybe someday.

Wayne oh dear, a daycare next door? That would probably drive me batty! I have enough on my plate listening to my own kids LOL

Yup. Our windows are pretty good so most of the noise is blocked out but, sadly, we can't have the patio door opn on those lovley spring days, when they are playing outside and sitting out on the deck would be out of the question as well.

I work at the kitchen table with a laptop. Nothing fancy right now but it's mobile so I can move if I need to. I also read emails and give/get comments on my phone anytime anywhere there is WiFi. In fact I did that today while sitting in the doctor's office waiting for my turn. Such an amazing life we have!!!

Tried and True

Elaine

I love it Elaine - yes making use of all those moments we have while waiting! Brilliant :)

There is no comparison to your workplace Lynne. My spot is on the reclining love seat in our living room where I can watch the neighbourhood comings and goings during the day. As it warms up here I will likely move to the back garden where I can enjoy the fragrances, sights and sounds of garden life.

Rick

Oh! I forgot ... like you Lynne, ... because I CAN.

Lovely Rick - the fact that we have a choice is the best part!

Great view. You are very fortunate. Clearly, working from bed works for you.

I am still stuck in the 9 to 5 grind. Ugh! I can hear people hacking and coughing as I type this. It would be so nice to work from home, especially in the winter.

Someday it will happen. Thanks for sharing, Lynne.

Gary it will happen.... and yes I remember the difficulties of working in an office with other people! I have been working for myself for 10 years now from home and I can honestly say I don't think I could ever work for someone else again!

Oh wow, Lynne. All your working spots sound heavenly. I mostly work at a desk in our lounge overlooking our back garden (with a view of my son's trampoline). I haven't had time to clear the old laptop yet though so lately I've been working on my laptop on the kitchen counter. Oh my goodness, this new machine is AWESOME! How's your new car?

I'm glad you are enjoying your new laptop - I need to get one soon. This one is driving me batty! The car is awesome, I am loving it so much :)

I work from my desk in the sitting room. I try not to look out of the window too much as I can easily get distracted. I prefer facing a blank wall, but then thats just me. I think if I had your view Lynne I wouldn't do much work at all.

Derek

I manage to stay motivated and work hard :) Even with the view.

That is very good Lynne.

Derek

I am like you whenI am at home I work mainly from my bedroom where i can view the sea and neighbour ing Island. When I am not working in bed I work at the gallery in between customers and at the moment there are few customers so it can be 4 hours a day straight.

Lovely!!

What a lovely view and a great analogy. Its almost the writers life in some ways

I have a view similar to yours, but ours is a lake, a few meters from our lakeside lodge, which in summer, looks lovely

Personally I don't work from my bed, it doesn't motivate me enough, instead as you mention I either sit at my lap top in the lounge, MAINLY work from my bespoke office, which has all the usual trimmings : )

When the whether is nice as it is today, I work from the decking sitting on a nice bench overlooking the lake, which works wonders for creative thinking

All the while thinking... This is how Internet marketing/ A bloggers life should be

Oh I would love a lake house! That sounds awesome :)

Honestly I am very motivated working from bed... call me strange LOL
