What I Have Accomplished through Wealthy Affiliates
Background
For several years I have had an idea about a great website that I thought I could turn into something rather special and popular.
I had often commented to friends and family about this idea with very positive reactions. Everyone told me that it sounded like a great idea and I should do it. The problem of course was that I am not very tech savvy. I just did not know where to start.
Two years ago, I started my first plunge at the ripe old age of .... lets just say I remember the night President Nixon resigned. I began a blog on Steemit.com. I like the platform because I can post anonymously and earn a traded cryptocurrency to boot. I enjoy the blogging experience and generally post daily on Steemit.
Earlier this year, my business had a bit of a set back in our marketing, we needed clients! We decided that our internet presence just did not cut it. We decided to cut ties with our "web designer" and get new proposals. Talk about sticker shock! The quotes came in between $7000 and $9000 per year for a full service marketing campaign. None of which included funds for advertisements through Google and Facebook. This was the price to create a new website, Facebook page and YouTube page. We would still be responsible for content creation.
Call To Action
I have been down this path before. I have paid for internet marketing campaigns that never really generated any meaningful clients. I would have been better off just taking out advertisements in the local newspaper.
No one knows your business as well as yourself. Unfortunately, like most small businessmen I relied and still rely on word of mouth. Marketing is often seen as an afterthought.
So like any modern man, I turned to YouTube for help. I began watching every video I could about web design and internet marketing. The more I learned, the more I realized that there was an entire method to all the madness. The veil of secrecy began to be lifted.
Within weeks, I had fully upgraded the business website and our Facebook page. I learned how to sync the business name (NAP) throughout multiple free listing site.
With each new task designed to maximize SEO, I realized just how little work had been done by all these "experts", who I had paid a small fortune, had actually done.
We began creating content every week, upgrading the website, and posting on Facebook.
Something very strange and wonderful began to happen. The traffic to our website skyrocketed from nothing to hundreds of hits per week.
Even better, our activity online jumped started our word of mouth referrals. Former clients began calling with their own needs and also began referring clients! The internet had "jump started" our business!
All of this simply by upgrading the look and feel of our website (with proper SEO techniques) and posting content every week.
As a small businessman, I am a great advocate for multiple sources of income. You never know when your main source of income might hit a bump in the road.
Which brings me to Wealthy Affiliates.
Why Wealthy Affiliates
While researching all the changes that needed to be made to the online marketing, I kept seeing these videos about "how to make money online" and all these offers.
In between, my research for the business, I began to research this idea about making money online.
While there are many ways to make money online, I focused on two, "drop-shipping" and "affiliate marketing". The "drop ship" route seemed more like a full time enterprise, and I have a full time business already. The only route for me seemed to be "affiliate marketing."
I began researching all the programs available in the affiliate marketing field. And simply by chance I came across a blog for Wealthy Affiliates. A blog that I might add was several years old.
And so I signed up for Wealthy Affiliates, it was free!
Then came the time to choose, go forward and upgrade to premium or stop.
I decided to join on a monthly basis, even though the yearly is clearly a better deal!
I joined simply for the training with the knowledge that at any time I could cancel my monthly membership.
(Note: My understanding is that if I sign up for the annual membership cancellation can only be done at the end of the year)
Even if I only stay for one month, I will get some of the best training that $30.00 ever bought!
However, remember in the beginning of this post I had an idea that I thought would make for a great website!
That idea, after years of being just talk has finally begun to take shape!

The website is up and running!
I did have a little glitch with SSL certificate, that the support team took care of right away.
I have made four post thus far and have even received a comment from one of our fellow members. Thank you very much.
I have yet to get to the "affiliate marketing" portion but all things in good time.
I have also given and received feedback.
My idea is taking shape. After years of just talking, and thinking, the idea is being brought forth. And for that alone I am very grateful to Wealthy Affiliates.
