My thoughts on wealthy Affiliates after a month.

I have been working on the slow and steady approach to building my website. After one month I still do not have any affiliate links. What? Why?

Well, I have been reading a great deal about "affiliate marketing" and its potential as well as its downsides.

The first challenge is about "expectations", too high and too low. I often joke that most people have only two problems with money - too little and too much.

I suspect that my expectations for affiliate marketing have those same issues - too little and too much.

So what are my expectaions and goals. First of all, I am playing the long game and I do not expect after my first 6 months to have anything other than a great website that provides useful information to anyone who wants to visit. I choose a "niche" that actually I am very interested in, craft beer brewed in my home state of North Carolina.

Fun fact, North Carolina is the number ONE craft brewing state in the South. Yep, the Old North State is at the top of the heap!

I remember a movie from years ago called Field of Dreams, about a farmer in Iowa who built a baseball field in the middle of a corn field. Everyone thought he was crazy, but a voice kept echoing in his mind "build it and they will come".

Every week, I am building a little more of my "field of dreams" in the hopes that if I build it they will come.

Perhaps my expectations are too low or perhaps they are just right.

I did have a little set back this week because of my niche. Apparently Google Adsense does not allow websites that promote alcohol sales. Oh well!

Even though this was a set back it was not a disaster because of one of my HIGH expectations of belonging to Wealthy Affiliates. My highest expectation is to obtain great training in the technical skills are utilized to build a great website. Through Wealth Affiliates I expect to gain great expertise on how to build my field of dreams. Although, Google rejected my website, I did manage to properly embedded the code and submit my application!

These are just my thoughts.

What are your expectations? How are you approaching this endeavor?

Build it and they will come. Is a great attitude to have.

Hi Lawrence, we will always receive knockbacks, it is what we do to change outcomes and work ways around things that counts in the long term.

Taking that steady approach can be the thing that makes all the difference in the sustainability and longevity stakes.

I see so many, charge, at it like there is no tomorrow, only to fall by the wayside in super quick time, giving up way before they reach their finish line.

We are definitely in a good space to learn the skills we need to create a positive online presence.

Best wishes, as your journey continues.
