Progress report - building a plan through action

I'm the kind of person who can spend too much time planning. I make lists, of my lists.

What I've learnt is that plans are just plans. Ideas are only good in one's head. The only way to build something is to start taking action, and sculpt and shape it through more action.

I'm not saying its bad to have a plan. It isn't, it neccessary. But there comes a time when it can get in the way. It can be used to stop progress - if you are a bit of a proscrastinator, or a perfectionist. As soon as you start to take action, things actually take shape in a natural and logical way. You see the links and opportunities that you didn't see before.

When I first heard about affiliate marketing, I was told that in a few months I'd be earning five grand per month. Well in a short time I realised that this salesman was creating fantasies in order to charge people to learn how to sell his product. I then found WA and started to get an idea that it would take a lot longer. So one of the things I want to do is let new people here see what the process of building an onlione affiliate business can actually be like. No misleading fantasies, just a true record of my journey. And lots of peoplr here do the same. It's very usefull. It's transparent.

For this year I've decided to hold myself accountable each month by posting a summary of what I've achieved each month. It will also act as dairy of how my business came about. For anyone new to affiliate marketing it's great to be able to read back on peoples blogs to see what the journey was like for them, it gives you an indication of the work that needs to be done and the results that you will get. A very down to earth honest review of one person's journey of getting affiliate marketing to work. We all have a different journey, but I found it helpful to read other peoples posts to see how the journey unfolded for them.

So what have I achieved this month?

• 7 bog posts (27 in total) shared on social media
  
• 0 videos (1 in total)
• 1 new affiliate program (2 in total)
• earnings £1.47 from Amazon
• Amazon account has been approved
• traffic 1.2K users
• closed two sites and concentrating on just one site
• learnt more about themes and plugins
• (done freelance work and teaching)

What to do by next month:

• install Thrive themes
  
• start work on redesign and navigation
• make some videos
• upgrade my hard drive
• 10 posts
• get up to date with Pintrest
• (do more freelance work and teaching and I need to make a website for that too)

It really doesn't look like much when you see it as a list, but I'm spending a lot of time reading about stuff and watching tutorials and I do a lot of research for my posts. I take alot of pride in them, they are original editorial content. Some are from interviews, lectures, some are reviews, some collections, I'm learning loads so I hope one day my readers will too.
