Never Give Up?...Well, Maybe Sometimes....
Throughout life, we often hear the phrase "Never Give Up" even when times are difficult....We know when someone says this to us, it is meant for our benefit...Even when I was in the Army, it was drilled into our minds that the words, "Give Up" were contraband and never to be uttered out loud....Giving up was something bad and no one could ever experience happiness by being a quitter....I went through a majority of my life, until recently, believing it was just wrong to give up on anything....Until recently, I started taking a long hard look at where I was in both my personal and professional life....I was nowhere near where I wanted to be...It was at this time that I gradually began looking at the phrase "Never Give Up" in a whole new light...I knew there were some things in my life that were holding me back from reaching my greatest potential...I knew in my heart that I absolutely must start "Giving Up." some things....
First on my list of things I wanted to "Give Up" was the need to always be right...It is one thing to be a confident about something, but it is also good to be willing to listen and learn from others experiences...They just might know something you don't....
Some other things I listed on my "Give Up" list were, being a grudge holder when someone has hurt me over and over, feeling the need to always live up to everyone's expectations of me, and the need to impress others no matter what the cost....I am just me and that has simply got to be good enough....
Finally, the things I felt were most important to give up were things such as doubt, and being afraid to take leaps of faith when situations were uncertain...It is often through the uncertainties of life that one experiences their greatest personal and even spiritual growth....
I believe that if we never "Give Up" the negative mindsets and "what ifs" of both our personal and business lives, we are more than likely destined to live a life riddled with doubt, regret, and even fear....
So, just maybe, it is alright to "Give Up" sometimes.....
