My process for choosing the right domain name.

This morning I started brainstorming but could not find a domain name that suited my style, so I did what always do, I opened MS Word and typed every word that came to mind, by the time I finished I had a fifty-six word list, including some primo profanity combinations.

Compiled list in hand (minus profanity) and copious amounts of coffee, I paid a visit to that friendly place we are all well acquainted with; Google. I searched many, many combinations yet still could not come up with a one word name that could be both turned into a brand and was also memorable, but my list had dwindled to just three candidates. I took these three words to Dictionary.com, browsed to the thesaurus (the dictionary's cousin.) section and after just a few clicks I found the one word I was looking for, and there, at that moment, reviewability.org was born.

Immediately took action and bought the domain, with that shinny new domain name I sashayed my way to wordpress.org and took the steps to get a blog off the ground. The entire process, from word processor to a working blog took somewhere around six hours.

I'm very happy with the work I did. I've read somewhere in WA that every finished step is a win, this certainly does feel like a win for me, there is absolutely a feeling of accomplishment attached to this process.

I'm the first to admit that I am an illiterate clog but I think this type of approach could be beneficial to others, it may be helpful even to you.

Be well.

Oscar.

as they say..."and exhale"...the thing is, is that here, it is all a series of sifting, refining, perfecting- and a process which is never ending. Tx for sharing, it all helps to motivate and support, which is what this is all about.

Quite a process! Thank you for sharing what it really takes....and glad it worked out

Now, that is some good food for thought!!!

Thanks for sharing "your way". Happy to hear that everything in Oscar land is once again groovy!

Is your name Oscar? Is your site title the same? What are you going to write about? With each question answered, your site will be a great one I know it!

My name is indeed, Oscar, although I will be writing under a pen name, Jack Wordfield. My site's name is Reviewability.org - The one thing I have always been great at is expressing my opinion, I have a gazillion of them, so I'm going capitalize on this bad habit of mine, and I will be doing it in writing :)

Brilliant I liked the birth of the site name. I am glad you managed to find what you were looking for. good for you

It does indeed feel very good coming up with something truly my own, yet I feel I must thank you all. This beachhead was possible only because of all of you, reading your success stories, your trials and rebirths, helped me gather the strength to continue and keep a steady pace to reach this point. Wealthy Affiliate and the community as a whole has been a great addition to my life. Thank you.
