Is it a "website suicide" if you mold your website around one affiliate program from one company only?
Yes, 'website suicide' if you only have one affiliate company. That company may drop their affiliate program, go out of business, decide to drop you because of lack of sales, or a myriad other reasons why you would no longer be affiliated with them. ~Marion
Sometimes you don't have a lot of options. Especially if your from the USA and live in a state that has strict Nexus laws. Amazon and EBay may be your only affiliates that will work with you.
Hi Justine. You must be from California or one of the other four or five states that have these crazy nexus laws.
Awww, I feel so sorry for you. I have always wanted to visit that area. My daughter has been there and has told me how beautiful it is. She spent several months there when she graduated from the University.
I've utilized Amazon for my products as well. It's easy and it works for my two current websites. I find sometimes when applying for other affiliate programs that they don't get back to me timely if at all. I haven't ventured to far out yet but as I build more sites, I will comment further. Right now, Amazon is easy.
You can use multiple companies' Banners. Just be smart because you don't want to use Nike and New Balance (same items). Make sense?
Hi there, I have used Amazon for all of my content, and other companies in my widgets area. I got turned down so many times in the beginning I decided to just stick with them, I am guessing I am pretty safe with Amazon?. :)
You may or may not be safe with Amazon. It depends on the sate you live in and various laws that states are passing or contemplating passing. If you live in Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Missouri, Rhode Island, or Vermont, you cannot be in the Amazon affiliate program. This list changes as states try to enact what I consider idiotic laws, then later repeal them or substantially modify them. I live in Colorado where all Amazon affiliates were "fired" in 2010. I'm not saying stay away from Amazon - it's still a great company. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket, or someday you might find you just went out of business. Diversify. Get multiple income streams going.
I will say from experience not to do it.I was promoting products from a single affiliate, when I got kicked out, I had to re-write some of my content and re install affiliate links, not fun I can assure you.
Thank you for your advise.I have this affiliate manager that is really pressuring me to that direction and I was in a dilemma.
That's why I never build a Website around a product unless I'm sure I have a second product to promote, just in case. A search and replace plugin can change affiliate links across 1000 pages of content in about 5 seconds.
If you use Pretty Link, it's even easier. Change one link and you're done.
It's much easier to rank a site in the search engines if you're using it to do one thing only.

When I build a Website, I use it to promote one product, and one product only. However, since products sometimes disappear without warning, I try not to build a site to promote a particular product unless there is also a second, similar, product available just in case something goes wrong.
I like to focus on one product. If I want to promote something else, I build a second site to do that. But always have a backup, especially if you're promoting CPA offers. They sometimes disappear overnight and if you can't find something else to promote with the site, you'll be left with a Website that does nothing.
Of course, if you're in an affiliate program that has multiple products, such as Amazon, then multiple products is OK, but I'd still stick to one program per site.
Charlie
Thanks for the advise.I am thinking if I stick to one program wont I be risking my entire website.I will also be limiting my visitors, what if they don't like or prefer another program?

I have had an orange block in the space where I wanted to put my google ad for two weeks now. What might be the problem causing my ads not to show.
Where are the "orange blocks"? If they are in your WordPress editor that means Adsense is on your website.
Sometimes Adsense can't find ads to put on your site, they will leave it blank, each day is different

I agree with Marion having your eggs all in one basket is not a good thing
