Duck Tail Hair Style
This has, absolutely, nothing to do with WA. It is a study in creative writing; you know "content"
I am a product of the 1950's, the greatest era ever. We had Elvis and the creation of Rock & Roll. "Give me the beat, boys, and free my soul. I want'a get lost in your Rock & Roll and drift away. Oooh Yeah."
I about Drifted Away there and forgot what I was doing.
The real reason I thought about writing this post, is that, recently, while going through a box of old photographs, I came across a photo of myself when I was 16 yrs old and I was sporting the latest hairstyle for, hip, young cats. We were,smack dab, in the middle of the 50s "cool" movement. The most radical thing teens could do is imitate Elvis; hair, hip shaking and all. Well, I'm a North Carolina, southern boy, not exactly, the hot bed for 'coolness'.
I met a guy, from California, at our local Swimming Pool; Theee meeting place where all the, cool, hip cats, gathered. The boy was a couple of years older, so, of course, I looked up to him. What got my attention, about him was his hair style. It was cut short on top and long on the sides, sweeping back into duck tails in the back, thus called the Duck Tail hair style for young men. This style had not gotten from California to North Carolina, yet and I couldn't wait to go to my local barber and be the first, in our town, to get the latest "Do". When the barber ask how I wanted my hair cut and I told him, short on the top and long on the sides, combed back to meet in the back, he looked at me like I was crazy. "Are you serious? About thirty minutes later, after a few trial and error passes from the barber, we came out looking "cooool", man.
Soon, there were Duck Tails all over town and the world.

I wasn't fishing for any kind of compliment. That happened to be a studio photo made for my girlfriend that sent me a dear John letter, later:-) Wasn't funny then but now, I think it is hilarious.
