First Blog Post
Wow my first blog post....what to say? I just started Wealthy Affiliate a couple of weeks ago and I haven't made any money yet. No worries, I wasn't expecting a huge windfall already! So when I got to the assignment of my first blog my initial thought was that I didn't have much to say. So I've been letting the idea of what to write rattle around in my brain for a day or two and finally decided to talk about what I had learned.
I learned that when an assignment says I have to join Google Plus I groan. Out loud! I'm a twitter nut, I love it. Google Plus and Facebook are not my faves. I did it anyways because I'm sure these guys know more about this than I do. Now I have a Google Plus account that is filling up (according to my email dinging constantly all day) with new google plus followers....all from wealthy affiliate. No one in my real life is on google plus with me. I see that as a good thing. We all have those relatives on Facebook you just want to smack and I like the idea of having a group of people I know very little about to chat with about our new adventures.
I have learned a lot about WordPress. Like the crazy person I am I immediately jumped in and started 2 websites at once and now I want to slap myself on a daily basis. I have both sites up with some content but both need some tweaks. I also need to write a book review, on a book I read a week ago and my mind is starting to get fuzzy on the details. So I will probably have to go back and reread the book. Note to self: Read the book and review it right away. See I'm learning as I go!!
Keywords...I had no idea what a huge part they played on the internet. I didn't even realize what an affiliates program was, until I stumbled into a blog by a woman who had written a bad review of a scam program. In the comments section someone asked her who she thought had a good online program. She typed Wealthy Affiliate. Someone else piped in about how good this program was and I just had to check it out. So I found this program by accident.
I think the best lesson being part of Wealthy Affiliate has taught me is to focus. I find myself writing down what I need to accomplish each day until it is checked off the list. This weird new habit of mine has found its way into my day job as well and I am accomplishing a lot more at work. I would rather be at home working on my sites on a Saturday than at work finishing up orders. I like having something to drive for that is all on me and no one else. I hope to learn a lot more in the coming weeks, get my websites completely setup and get myself on my new schedule of writing content. Wish me luck!
