I'm baaaaccckkkk!
I'm back from the BEST holiday ever! We drove from Belgium to Bayonne, France (stayed one night) then to Valladolid, Spain (stayed one night) then to Lagos, Portugal (stayed 8 days). Here are some pics...(sorry for the sideways ones ;-)
As our journey began. Thanks goodness for a LeapPad and tablet for cartoons!!
But then we had time to visit Valladolid and there was this huge park and awesome play areas. Matteo had a blast!
It was a scorcher! Was between 34 and 39 our entire trip. Loved it!
Then we stopped at the border for Spain and Portugal and had our first authentic 'pastel de nata' or custard tart. Yummm! SO good, but so bad for cholesterol.
Stayed in a condo near Meia Praia in Lagos.
Beautiful sandy beaches and no clouds in site for our entire stay. A nice change from Belgium...it rained our first night and day back :-(
Also visited Praia da Batata, which is beautiful! Some grottos in those rocks.
We ate a LOT of seafood, including octopus. So god, OMG!! And drank Portuguese beer and sparkling white wine (vinho verde).
Bought natas do ceu and serradura which are cream based desserts with crushed Maria cookies at the bottom. Bought those at Aldi! Was shock to find them, especially at Aldi! Again, very bad for the cholesterol but DAMN so good!
By the way fellow Europeans with Aldi and Lidl, these two shops rock in Portugal and Spain...wow!
After Portugal we headed back to Spain where we stayed in Alicante for 2 days. While there, we went to MundoMar in Benidorm
which is like a zoo and water park. My hubby and I visited this zoo when I was preggers with my son, so it was nice to go there with him.
Matteo got to play some more at a little attraction park type thing in Alicante. Then it was time to go back to the apartment and prepare for the trip towards home the next morning.
We stopped in Carcassonne, France one night. The next day we drove 8 hours towards Belgium. There was some traffic in Paris, so we took a detour through an underground highway which is only about 2.5 meters high! Really low. But it took us pretty far.
We finally got back to Belgium at about 10:30pm. Put all our stuff away and slept like babies in our beds. And as I mentioned earlier, it rained during the night and throughout the day. UGH...don't miss that!
Tomorrow is Monday and Matteo's first day back to school and my first day back to work. Just one lesson, so it's not bad. But time to get cracking on my website and social media as well as my MLM business. Was able to do some training while on the road so I'm pumped!!
