What does everyone think of Distributor business opportunities?

I am mainly interested in affiliate marketing, but I have been seeing the company "It Works" all over Facebook. My friend who I used to work with is involved with the company and she pays $80.00 a month, plus $20.00 a month for a basic website, and she swears it's the best opportunity in the world. The company sells several products that spark my interest like nutrition supplements, weight loss wraps, energy drinks, and even skincare products, but $100.00 a month seems like a big investment for just starting out. Plus I don't know if I would love having to order a certain amount of products every month. Is there anyone out there whose been involved in a direct sales distributor type of business? Did you enjoy it, and in your opinion do you think it's worth the money to get involved in a direct sales type of business? And also what do you think is more profitable, affiliate marketing or distributorship?
