What a way to start the year! 2019, Bring it on!

First off, Happy New Year WA family! :) I hope everybody is starting the year as planned.

Mine is just exactly the opposite! In a bad and a good way...

THE BAD

• Jan 2, First day at work, working 12hr-shift as usual, I had a major accident at work after my 8years 5months accident-free employment in the steel foundry.
  

I was trouble shooting a spectrometer when a Argon gas hose exploded that left me with contusion (deep bruising) on several parts of my body. I was sent to the emergency through an ambulance, a first time experience in my entire life! Spent a total of 6hrs there waiting for the doctor and nurses, taking my blood works, X-ray & CT-scan. I managed to go home that day through a taxi by myself at 12:30am. I was given a doctor's note to be off from work atleast 3 days and gradual return to work thereafter.

• Jan 3, At 9:30AM I was awakened by a call from work. It was our health and safety officer. He asked me how I was doing to which I said, "Still sore and still on pain meds". Without further calming words from him, he told me that he is offering me to come in to work that same day to do a modified light duty! I felt totally trashed, indespair, my work morale just went kaboom! Gone!
  

I was upset and mad on how they just treated me..after more than 8years of hard work and dedication, I just requested a 2 day off work to recover from a work-related injury but they counter-offered a work from home instead! And today, the second day, they wanted me to come in back to work!

Their reason? Time loss at work due to an injury of an employee affects the company ratings negatively, aside from the insurance premium raise.

I agreed to work from home even if I have the right to say "no" according to WCB (Workers Compensation Board) because of 2 reasons: I understand how this affects the company and I'm practical enough not to jeopardize my family finances. Retaliation in the company is against the corporate policy but I saw it happening within my tenure and I'm not wiling to experience that because of my pride. My bruises can be managed by pain meds anyway, and hey, I'm still alive and kicking! :)

That's just my rant, let's go to the good!

THE GOOD

• Out of all the incident from work, it dawned to me how important NOT to be 100% dependent on employment alone.

I've been dependent soley on employment since College. Now, my fire on building my very own business online has been rekindled and is now stronger and brighter than it ever was.

I was re-affirmed that I'm on the right track in terms of my long term plans and goals. Not just focusing on how can I be the best at doing my job for the company benefit.This is one of my biggest "Why" behind my determination.

• I am once again reminded how Health and Family must come first over long hours of overtime at work.
  

What happened today, Jan 4, made me wanted to write the longest blog I've ever written! :)

• I earned my very first WA commission at 1 month & 24 days membership!!! WOhoo!! :)
  

I am still a crawling baby at WA for sure and I don't expect to see my very first commission anytime soon! :)

OK, I have to be honest, during my first week of membership, I set my goal of seeing a commission before my first month ends BUT after immersing myself on the trainings, reading blogs and when reality started to sink in after a couple of week's pumped up days, I realized I have to work my butt off, as usual, before actually seeing an actual income. That is why seeing this happening at barely 2 months old in WA, is just pretty AWESOME! :)

• I have 171 Total traffic in my Website!
  

I have been hearing the words "traffic", "Organic Search" since day 1 but they don't mean anything to me until today! Oh my Gosh! They are real! I can't believe somebody outside the WA community is actually seeing my posts! :)

So far, I have 7 posts and 2 pages in my STEM toy domain website with 36 comments. I guess Not bad for a 1 month 24days newbie! :)

So my final take about all this? I'll wrap my mind with these two great quotes moving forward!
