The Question is: To Blog Full-time or Part-Time?

It is common to think that Blogging full time can achieve the most success in the online business. It is normal to blame the time for being so short if it is being done part-time.

This has been my mindset when I started in November 2018, doing it part-time.

From mid November to March of this year, I managed to complete Levels 1-2 and half of Level 3 of the Online Entrepreneur Certification Trainings, religiously following ang completing every single task. For about 5 months doing this part-time, I managed to create 11 posts and 2 pages for my website with 61 engagement comments. I also have redone my website lay-out and optimized the site speed after about 3 weeks of trying on different themes.

In mid April, I lost my job and decided to work on my trainings and website full time. It's almost now end of May, after doing it full-time in about 1.5 months I was just able to create 5 posts and have not even completed level 4!

What a shame! I know, I know, there's only ME to blame.

Now I realized, I blame myself for...

...Priotizing on completing non-immediate tasks over website content creation

...Procrastinating writing contents even if I have time

...Loosing focus & motivation to push forward

For a mom (and landlord at the same time), like me, having no full-time 8-12 hour job does not mean I have all day to just sit down and do nothing. I'm actually surprised to find out that I still don't have the time to just sit down and do nothing. I still can't find time to just focus on the trainings and content creation in the midst of household chores, child care, rental property renovations and management, preparing for a family visit, pending move, quality time with kids and all sorts of other priorities at hand.

I admit, I'm guilty of blaming my "so many tasks to do", since I cannot blame the time for being short. Now I realized, I just DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET.

My point is, IT DOESN'T MATTER whether you do blogging full-time or part-time. What matters most is that YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET. Truly, Mindset is EVERYTHING!

I definitely cannot just sit down and focus on writing the whole day everyday, my toddler and tween needs me now more than ever BUT with the RIGHT MINDSET, the 2-4hours everyday that I can devote in trainings and content creation can be more fullfilling than a whole 8-12hours with a wandering mind.

What about you? What do you blame for not pursuing your dreams & goals?

I quote BenjisDad "Just Keep Pushing!" This is my current favorite slogan to keep my motivation on fire.

Just Keep Pushing Forward!

Hello Jhie! I totally understand your transition from job to business, and having young kids too! I transitioned from the military to homeschooling and working on a startup, then I had a baby.
When you have a job, you think if you didn't that time would be almost limitless. Hahaha. It's not like that.
When you're self-employed, you have no boss saying what tasks need to be done. Instead, it's up to you to learn to prioritize, and boss yourself.
For me, I signed my kids up for recreation activities, got involved with my church where there were activities for them, I took them to the library, and stabilized a schedule until my husband bought into what I was doing enough that we decided to get childcare.
Motherhood is a full-time job.
You can use their nap times, put them to bed on time, work at night and in the morning, and possibly crunch out 40 hours around them, but it'll take lots of discipline.
You can do it. It's an adjustment, so be graceful towards yourself, and keep challenging your work ethic and efficiency. You'll get it.

Thank you very much for your encouraging words and practical tips, Tiffany!
You just proved that it is possible to achieve a good balance between motherhood and a successful entrepreneur. Hats off to you! 😄

Keep pushing forward!
Jhie

I absolutely agree that the mindset is everything! No matter how busy you are, if you wanna succeed and you are determined to make it work and you have a big goal to work forward - then you find the time to make it happen!

You're totally bang on! If there's a will, there's a way :)

Hi Jhie, the best advice I can give you is the following:

Just do it!

Procastination and lack of motivation are fear based issues. You doubt that you will get results, fear of failure.

Taking action is the best thing you can do to eliminate fear and build confidence.

All the best!

Thanks Ilias, Great advice!
I'll be wearing Nike more often to remember your Just Do it! advice. LOL :)
