I'm no tax expert but.
For those of us in the United States, it is tax season. For most, it may be a painful time if they owe the IRS money. As for us, Frank and I, we usually get a refund. Even while having self-employment for part of last year plus a large W-2 income.
The benefits of self-employment give us many deductions. As well, we overpaid taxes on a retirement fund we cashed out so got some of that back. Oh, and we bought an electric vehicle so that was added credit too.
I thought that this year I needed a tax pro with so many things to account for as a self-employed person. Turns out I didn't and plowed ahead into the filing with H&R Block online myself.
The tax pro who wanted $600 to input my numbers into their program missed deductions that I found. With the cost to do it myself at $125 and the increase of over $1,000 to my refund, I will not be using the so-called expert and be enjoying more money in-pocket!
Good luck to you all who do your own taxes. Just be sure to account for everything and dig for those deductions!
