Spam-Comments

Last Update: May 25, 2015

My site Has started to attract a lot of comments. Some replying to other comments people have made. Some selling cupcakes. Some with absolutely nothing to do with the site, and quite a few that I actually can't understand. Iam starting to spend a lot of time reading through it and wondering what to do about it. There were up to 30 today. If i spam it will that sender be blocked in future? What to do about the comments about other comments that other people have made and in some cases not something I would like on my site. It is starting to become a problem. Some people are adding there URL at the bottom which leads to HGH sites, how to build a cabin, ect again not really something I want.

Any Advice Guys?

I use akismet, but that didn't keep all spam away in my spam folder, so I looked for another sollution as well
You can read my training about it I must say, I went from 140 spam a day to 5 spam comments a week

Thank goodness for the spam blocking plugin that catches this stuff. (I use Akismet). I also get quite a bit of spam. I do check them out and on rare occasion I find one or two that are editable into a value-adding comment for my site. Once edited I remove the backlinking email and URL. (Not sure if this is best practice, but intuitively it seems like a good idea). Then, I add a tailored reply to the edited former piece of spam, and voila, I have some new content for my site.

Don't forget to trash all the spam you don't use (most of it). I've heard that it can build up and slow down your site.

Big time spelling issues on some of the spammiest of spam. Not to mention some that are quite nonsensical. Best wishes for your entrepreneurial success.
