following inactive members?
i was looking at my network and realise that i follow 1097 members till now and those who follows back to me are 414 so where are the rest 683?. if olny i had them all it could be nice for me, as i try to follow every one who follows me here it feels good when i see some one is following you a nice motivation to follow back too.
thank to all those wh are following me that is how we are building a big cooperative team to heip and support each other here at WA on growing out online business and how to get improve on this community. thanks again to all who always follow back and who follows me i will follow you back as well.

Hi, You can spot the active members by actually looking at the persons that respond to your requests, or the requests of your followers. I also started to follow few members at the beginning but not all of them wanted to follow me back. It is OK. I give them few months. My time is also precious and receiving hundreds of emails every day is not easy to manage. I wish you all the best.
It is a good way to keep in touch an now more about each other here at the WA!
It always feel good to motivate a help a fellow member to progress in here, and I believe this is the ideia of following!

I wouldn't worry too much about those who aren't following you back. You have enough followers to build relationships with and the numbers of those following you will grow as you share and interact.
Hi Lucy, first of all welcome! I'm glad you came on board. Keep moving on with what you have already started here @ Wealthy Affiliate. It's great that you are building your network and conscientiously noting the number. But it's really hard to determine the active ones from those who aren't. Just keep following others whom you feel are great to be with in your network. Eventually, you will have more who will follow you back. You are definitely in the right tract. Enjoy expanding your network and building your online business!
Same as you, I think a large number of new people forget to hit "Follow Me" button - or just haven't worked it out yet.

It is hard to know who is till active, if someone takes the time to follow me I feel it is only good manners to follow them back and help if I can
I have a different take on the "follow" option.
I personally do not follow people just because they follow me and nor do I expect people to automatically follow me back as I see that as a bit pointless. If everybody ends up following everyone else just because.. Then what is the point of the follow system.
I follow people because I find their posts of interest to me or perhaps I have given them assistance and I want to keep a look out if they should have any more questions that I might be able to help them with. If they follow me in return under these circumstances it is a nice reward as you think they must have appreciated the support.
I have a more technical and commercial leaning so if people post articles of that type I might follow them. If peoples posts are mostly about motivational stuff which does not interest me, though there is absolutely nothing wrong with those posts, I don't want to be alerted when they create new posts so therefore I do not follow them. Even thought they might follow me because they got help from something I mentioned.
I might follow someone because I like what they are doing in their niche but they might think my thoughts or technical advice is a bit boring so not want to follow me. That is absolutely fine, and I have no issues with that at all.
If people do not choose to follow you it is not a reflection on you at all
as we all have different likes and interests.

We all have different ways we interpret things and want to make use of the features here at WA. There is no right or wrong.
My comments just relate to my opinions and how I use the follow system. One thing that worries me though is that I have seen some say that they will not follow people if they have not followed them 1st.
This is really sad because if you read something written by another member that you find useful, perhaps they have more knowledge in your particular niche for example, then it is in the interests of your business and personal growth to take the opportunity to follow and learn what you can from them. So you can use the follow system to be alerted when they make more posts.

I think mine are about even, but when you are new sometimes you are just trying to figure things out because it can be a bit overwhelming. And then all of the emails, if people are just deleing instead of responding that could be the issue as well. I had to find away to say thank you to everyone because at first I didn't know how. As you said, it is wonderful to get a follow back and then have a supportive network on top of that...I wish you continued luck :)
