Hi WA Community!
Excited yet apprehensive to begin this new and challenging journey. I am a happily married military spouse and mother of 3 beautiful children currently living in the Washington DC metro area. I love the outdoors, Mexican food, and movies. For some time now, I have been drawn to the idea of beginning something for myself and that will benefit my family as well. It seems more and more people have a "gig" and I want that. I want to create and endorse something that I will feel passionate about. I like what Wealthy Affiliate offers and believe this will give me the direction I'm searching. Looking forward to making new connections and friends that will lift me positively and help educate me on this path of personal development and in creating a secondary source of income for my family.

Finding a good niche seems like a tough task, but it's actually pretty easy. Actually, ANY niche can make money, so you definitely should not worry if your niche is profitable or not. Is my niche a profitable one? As far as competition goes, that's also something to not worry about. If there's competition, it just means people are making money. That means you can make some too! As time progresses, new products come out, new technology is introduced, new ideas formed, and each change is an opportunity for "the new kid" to get a foothold and overtake established websites.
So the big question is not "what" is going to make money, but "what do you want to make money with?"
In other words, what are your own interests?
What do you think would be interesting to research and write about?
What do you want to help people with?
A good sentence to help you decide your niche is "I want to help people _____"
Helping people is the best way to make money in any business. Everyone wins. Short of that, pick something that you just find interesting.
There are literally thousands of affiliate programs, products, and ways to make money in any niche or industry if you get creative. All of that will come into focus in Level 3 of your training, so for now, we just need to look at getting your topic chosen, your website built, and then start creating awesome content for your business!

The one piece of advice that helped me when I got started was that there is a huge difference in success rates between those that interact with the community and those that don't. You don't have to be a social butterfly, but here's a few basic things you can do:
1) Put up a profile pic
2) Write a short introduction about yourself
3) Drop in on my profile to say hello
Doing these things will help you meet people in the community and see what WA is all about. You can start learning how to build a profitable business on the internet by clicking the "Training" button on your left.

I've been considering an MLM business and while stumbling upon different sites I've been enlightened on the possibility of taking a different approach of creating income through affiliate marketing.
