30 Day Guide to Mythological Creatures

Well, today is my 30th day after joining Wealthy Affiliate, so it seems like a good time to take a step back, reflect on what I've accomplished, and compare my experience so far with what my expectations were coming in.

So, first, what have I done?

Created an account
Decided on a Niche
Created a free Website, with a couple framework pages
Determined some initial keywords
Wrote my first Niche specific article/blog post
Purchased my own domain
Revised the vision for my site
WENT PREMIUM!!! (on about day 15)
Pointed my outside hosted domain to my WA account
Set up an e-mail address associated with my domain name
Added Images to my site
Received and considered feedback on my site
Received and responded to comments on my posts
Been indexed by Google
Wrote my first WA blog post (this is my second)
Incorporated links to Amazon via their Amazon Associates program
Incorporated Google AdSense code and ad blocks (though they are yet to go live, due to still being "in review")

Early on in the training, I was instructed to come up with a few goals. My day 10 goal was: "Establish Niche and Related Website." It seemed like a big deal when I wrote it, but, when I look at the specific things I've accomplished, it now seems very vague and unfocused. But, that's OK. It left room for growth. And I did, in fact, make that goal.

My 30 day goal, however, was, "Incorporate YouTube." This goal, I have not accomplished. Actually, I didn't even decide HOW I was going to begin incorporating YouTube until today. But, that's also OK.

You see, when i set those initial goals, it was from a position of inexperience. All I knew was that I wanted to dream big, and create as many income streams as possible. Ultimately (read: eventually), I wanted to develop a massive, multi-headed, revenue building Hydra, that I could train from home. Like the mythological Hydra, I wanted to cut off heads that weren't performing, only to replace them with two more, more fierce than the first.

On this side of 30 days, however, the landscape looks a little different. Some of you might think that means I've come to my senses, reigned in my Hydra, and am now thinking more realistically. Actually, it's just the opposite. Why? Because, on this side of 30 days, the landscape isn't painted with dreams. It's painted with possibilities.

So, at this moment, I want to say, "Thank You, Wealthy Affiliate, both the team, and the community." Today would not look any brighter than any previous day, if it were not for the amazing wealth of training, resources, and community that have been assembled here. Maybe the tools would still exist somewhere, out there in cyberspace, but, they be useless to most of us. It would be like having to put together a puzzle, when half the pieces are missing, and there isn't even a box for the reference picture. Worse yet, it would be like doing it alone.
